The frustration...and the urgency to get to the end. 2 weeks is not so long. How many weeks did it take you to decide to start this diet? Those were the weeks nothing was happening. ...You know something is going on...it is just not a data point that is measureable and tangeable proof that you are getting healthy. Maybe your blood work is dropping...possibly your visceral fat is decreasing. You know from reading here the fat cells fill with water and the body lets that go last... It's a process and you are both the passenger and the conductor on this ride. You just don't get to pick which hat you wear on which day. Sometimes you need to reward yourself for staying the course though...Something just for you that says..you are special...and you are sooo doing the right thing. I'm a big fan of that, and no matter how small your budget...New nail polish...a bubble bath soak {even at 10PM after the kiddoes are in bed} with music don't cost much....that new book by your fav author...a new bracelet? Even fresh flowers on your table. That is a reminder of all the stuff you did not put on your table or bring into the kitchen to eat recently....and that you are on track. |
Schenectady and Reenhag thanks for the encouraging words. My goal for today is staying 100% OP. I will take it one meal at a time, one day at a time.

Great dress Shenectady! Very classy and not at all those oldlady styles or colours. I always cringed at those 'mother-of-the-bride' type dresses that you see advertised - I've always thought they were more great gramma-of-the-bride dresses.
Get your hubby up & dancing too - great fat burning exercise! happy little cloud dance!! Amber... don't give up. It is hard when you hit a stall and I know you know this already, but a little reminder never hurts: Your body can only work on one thing at a time - maybe this week you lose weight, maybe next week you lose inches, maybe another week your blood lipids or blood sugars are improving, etc. Not everything happens at once. Try to write down (or stick in your phone notes) one NSV every day - sometimes it will be the same one, but it's still a victory for each day. Writing it down & reading it helps your brain process the reality of it - so that it's not just a 'nice theory' running around in your head. :write: Also, maybe it's time to focus on what other things are happening in your life not related to weight loss - friends, job, recreation, etc. We can tend to become obsessive about the scale when we are working hard OP. Life is more than our weight ;). Chin up! Liana |

NSV...kind of. I had a "rough day at the office" today and am in a mental funk (TOM to blame too-- ooooh and all that estrogen coming out of my fat -- wait! Now I'm EXCITED that I'm an emotional mess...)
Anyway, I'm cooking and my chicken is on the BBQ, "nuggets" for the boys in the oven. I started eating one of their nuggets (well I DID finish it) but before I grabbed another I logged in here! I thought that was awesome to have a place I could come and distract my fingers before emotional eating took over. As for Amber -- you've heard lots of encouragement today. You're monitoring closely what you're eating. Try different alternatives and see. Maybe it IS a reaction to a brand of something. Some alternatives make me feel sick -- that "fake" taste. What was it someone just said recently along the lines of "don't think of a stall or not losing as failure. Think of it as a success of maintaining and not gaining.".... something like that. |
NSV for this newbie: I was too busy to even make a cup of coffee before I left this morning and haven't had a caffeine-withdrawal headache all day (and I am a migraine sufferer). Before IP, my biggest vices were sweetened coffees and Coke. I usually had a headache by 9am if I didn't have one. Wondering now if it was the sugar withdrawal that was making me sick and NOT the caffeine? Whichever, it feels awesome to not be owned by any one substance!
It's so great to see how you all encourage each other here. What a great place to be! |

What a lovely dress! With 10 weeks to go, you might lose enough that you need to have the dress taken in! Congratulations on your success! |

After losing nothing between last Thursday and Tuesday, the school's scale puts me down another 3.5lbs this afternoon. Nope, no water retention here, none at all.... ;)
OTOH, I also forgot my lunch today. Left it sitting on the kitchen counter. So I dipped into my emergency packets for the protein, but didn't have the veg until I got home. Presumably, that won't mess things up too much, as long as I get all of the veg in. |

Had a super rough work day today..was so upset when I got home. All I wanted to do was dive head first into the bag of jelly beans leftover from Easter. Luckily, I didn't, but I am ashamed to say that the thought even crossed my mind to cheat. This really is a mental game as much as it is physical...

The relationship between mothers and daughters is so fraught with danger. And you are right in that if your mother knew of the distress she had caused for such a long time, she would have felt awful. The best news though is that you are working on yourself now (no matter how much time has passed) and you are amazingly successful at it. I have really appreciated your honesty in this journey. You describe the emotional side of weight loss so well - it really resonates with me. I am so looking forward to seeing the picture of you in that dress! And I want to hear when you move out of the obese range. You are so close! You are going to rock it! I had a colleague who I haven't seen in a while - works on a different floor - tell me that I looked amazing today. It definitely came at the right time as I've been feeling a little tired and maybe a bit blue at the moment. The weight loss is slowing down as I get smaller and sometimes I just want to take the easier route and get take out on the way home and say yes to the chocolate on offer at work. But taking the easy route was what got me here in the first place and now I've picked my 'hard' and I'm working on it. Here's to another successful hour, day, week and month on IP. |

She actually called me "tiny". Now, I'm far from tiny with 20 lbs before I get to the normal weight range but the people who knew me well know how BIG I was! It really felt good, esp in a week I've been tired, hungry, and dealing with gut issues. Its been one of those weeks that I feel diet fatigue, BIG TIME. |
April 24, 2014 - Think Thin Thursday Tip (Beck Diet Solution)
If you think, “Dieting is too hard, it’s not worth it,” remind yourself that dieting is hard but the benefits of weight loss make it worth it. Telling yourself "it’s not worth it" is an excuse to give up and not try. Keep working on it! It does get easier over time. |
I'm working overnights this weekend and my official weigh in day is typically Saturday morning when I first wake up. I'm wondering when I should weigh in now since I'll be awake/working from 7pm-7am Friday, Sat and Sun....

Weird question for married women...since I've lost weight my husband has this fear of me getting raped. Anyone else have something like this happen? How do I make him feel better? I think it's slightly funny....but I also don't want him to freak out when I am out at night (sometimes I have to be, for school and stuff) and he's really worried about a mission trip I'm going on this summer. Anyone have any advice?
|
Good morning all!
First weigh in today, and I'm down 10.1 lb! I know it isn't all fat loss, some is water & glycogen stores, but I'm still thrilled! :carrot: I haven't see the 260s since last summer! What a great way to start week 2. I had no idea that Ideal Protein would work so well! |

I suspect he's mostly worried that men will start noticing you more and you'll start comparing him to other men - keep reassuring him that you love him and will be careful and cautious. Of course, I could be wrong - it's happened before! |

Are you required to be in a more dangerous setting than you were previously? New campus? Parking lots? New neighborhood? Is it just your weight, or has anything else changed? Do you carry a safety whistle? Buying one might help him relax. If you're in a dangerous neighborhood he might feel better if you asked him to pick you up, or walked with a female friend. Walk in well lit populated areas. If you drive, ask campus security to escort you to your car. (I'm sure you know these things, but by explaining to your husband he might see that you are already aware of personal security.) I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions, other than letting him help you plan for your safety. If he feels involved, he might worry less. Quote:

Question of the day: My boss is taking us all out to lunch today. I have only been with the company for 7 months and I feel that I should go for political reasons. The place they chose: serves mostly bar food. I checked out the menu and called the restaurant to ask a few ?? and discovered there is absolutely nothing on the menu that is IP friendly. I hesitate to bring my own food and order a side salad because it will be a small group and surely my choices will be noticed and commented upon. So either I go and get talked about or I don't go and get talked about. Or maybe no one will even notice.
What would ya'll do? |
Friday Weekend Warm-up - Beck Diet Solution
If you feel badly about asking for special requests at restaurants, remind yourself, “People make special requests all the time and I’m entitled to do so, too. If I were on a very strict medical diet I wouldn’t even think twice about making requests. Eating differently to lose weight and be healthier is just as legitimate.” |

My boyfriend has to eat a restricted diet as well (low fodmap, gluten free) and his boss also takes his teamout to lunch frequently at places that aren't ideal (italian seems to be the favorite). He says the same thing "restricted diet for medical reasons" if anyone asks why he doesn't order much and they don't think anything of it. You'd think his boss might get the hint through and ask him for input before they choose a place to go, haha. I know it's annoying...especially if you're around people who are constantly asking, "can you have this? What?? you can't have it? Just one cheat won't hurt" (like my family). But you can do it!! Check in when you get back and let us know how it went. |
Good morning
I had my first weigh in yesterday and I am down 6.2 lbs and 5 inches. I am amazed at the inches!! Thanks to everyone on this forum for sharing their knowledge and encouragement. Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!:carrot::carrot: |

My scale was up slightly again this morning, probably because I feel slightly sick, but I don't especially care ... I caught myself in the mirror in profile and thought, "Is that my stomach? Wow! That's a lot smaller!" NSV! |

Thanks...I am the oldest ...of 5 sisters...! Where are you in the lineup...you obviously are not an only child! It does give perspective to the world having sisters...both what you say tomthem...and what they lovingly tell you. Can't imagine not having all of them! |

Then I will be up again for a big b-day... in 2018 I will be 70...so I get to plan the place! I'm thinking Europe...and we will have another round of birthday trips! (However...as my one BIL says..."you ladies manage to find plenty to celebrate in between the birthday trips...there is always an EVENT or REASON you need to commemorate".) Which is true...now we just go.... |

Does anyone know why we can't have V-8? Is it the high salt content?

Just made these OMG love the salt and vinegar. Definitely satisfied my craving for the Lays version.
Ingredients: •1 bunch kale, washed (stems and stalks removed) •1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil •1/8 teaspoon sea salt (or taste) •1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Preheat oven to at 300°F. Lightly chop kale into smaller pieces, if desired. Toss with olive oil, sea salt, and apple cider vinegar. Spread onto 2 large baking sheets and bake for about 20 minutes. |

Hello All, some great scale & NSV's! I have been reading but not posting, been in a REAL stall for a month, but had my bloodwork done last week and had to UP my Synthroid and I am back on 50,000 Vit. D. Hope that starts my VERY SLOW journey back- up. I have to laugh at people who "think" they are in a plateau or stall, you really have NO idea. I think an actual plateau is 6 weeks without change.
Love your dress Schenectady |
