you are making my mouth water with references to the pakoras / samosas and kebabs.... sigh...
I will check the spicy Indian style cabbage recipe..
my bigger worry is that I am going to India for a month in Jun-Jul.... and I am worried that I might go overboard.....hopefully, I can get into a rhythm here before that, and keep the binge-ing to a minimum...

Sorry
But I am going to be very very honest finding fresh un-wilted sick looking produce like lettuce and spinach is so hard over there (at least in Pakistan it is). Hopefully your taste buds will have changed by then and you will crave fresh veggies. Maybe steam your veggies and in a small pan dry "roast" your spiced, coat steamed veggies with EVOO and dust with warmed spices ( I do that now and then) or add spices to warmed EVOO in small skillet then top steam veggies?
We are thinking about going to Pakistan in july-august and I speak from experience (outsider coming in) that finding fresh lettuce and stuff in Abbottabad is near impossible. We had to go to Islamabad to farmers market to get it, and it was bitter and nasty............so I am going to hope for better this time if we go LOL. I lose about 15lbs when we go there, I do not eat much because I don't like fried food all the time or rice for that matter LOL.

Check with your coach about doing the Alternative Plan, the one that uses 1 fruit, 1 dairy (yogourt would be useful in this case) and one starch (I used a serving of rice or potato). You will still lose weight (just a tiny bit slower) but it will make it so much easier to eat while travelling there. I eat Asian food a lot, because I have to be gluten free so I know what I'm talking about. I make it from scratch, lol. You should see my huge packing box of spices...

I am doing a weigh in today.. so let me check with them on the alternate diet..
BTW, my daughter's name is Lianna... , just like yours...
NJ Desi Guy: How did the weigh in go?? What did the coach say about alternate plan? Let's hear more...
Liana
Liana - The weigh in was great. good progress.. and on the alternate diet, I didn't check with them, cause I didn't see it on their shelves. Also, since the time I shied away from Asparagus, i dont seem to have Gout problems anymore ! .. so hopefully I wouldn't have to switch..
Already I am feeling much lighter and my knees are not painful when I climb down the stairs... so.. lets see how it goes...
