Do you mean sucralose? Sucrose = sugar

    Yes sorry! Replying before coffee
  • Sucralose is one of the sweetners in our IP products.

It is also known as splenda.
Sucralose DOES add trace carbs b/c it is usually combined with maltodextrin (unless used in liquid form)

The issue is creating a situation where we're always craving something sweet. I got a Binaca breath spray to use instead of "candy"

The studies done on Sucralose are all done by the company that created it. I'd hardly consider them neutral. Many observational studies are showing gastric concerns, including upsetting normal gut flora.
  • Thanks ladies I just want to make sure I am not sabotaging my progress by taking something I shouldnt. I sometimes crave something in the middle of the day and dont want to have a bar off plan
  • My coach said the mini altoids can cause a spike in insulin and suggested the ice breakers made with xylotal (did I spell that right?) in moderation (like 3-5 a day).
  • I used to like those, too. I think I went thru half a little box of them (maybe the whole box!) my very first week on IP. I had a 3.4 that week and 2.6 the next. That coach suggested a limit of 6 teeny tiny mints a day. (I don't use splenda to sweeten drinks or in recipes, just had the mints).

What I found was that I wanted the cinnamon taste and not the sucralose aftertaste. So I bought some saigon cinnamon and used to put that on the vanilla pudding and would limit myself to 1/2t a day and might have some "plain" like you might eat powdered sugar off a plate. I know real cinnamon (not so sure the saigon kind) has positive insulin regulating properties.

That only helps at home. Limiting the mints to 6 per day helps for those social situations. Their calorie count is quite deceptive compared to their potential impact.
