What to do with bras?
 

I generally donate my clothes that I've lost too much weight to wear - doesn't make sense to keep anything that doesn't look good on me, regardless of how nice the item is.

So, the issue isn't regarding what to do with regular clothing, but rather underclothing - specifically, nice bras. I went down from a 36 DDD to a 34 DD. My 36 DDD bras are in excellent shape and were not cheap. I only wore them for a few months, and I have no idea what to do with them - anyone know of places that take used bras?

You can donate them along with your regular clothes. Or, if they were expensive and are in perfect condition, some people buy gently used bras on Ebay.

Donate them to your local women's shelter. They will gladly take them. On a side note, if you have any spare unopened boxes of pads/pantyliners/tampons, women's shelters are in great need of those.

The thrift store or shelter is a great idea. As I have lost weight, I have bought "new" bras at the thrift store. They are all in great shape, clean and nearly new looking. Since most of my weight came off my chest first, I have had to go down a couple of sizes so this has been a boon for me.

I am very lucky that we have a huge and very clean, neat well organized thrift 1/2 mile down the road. It would rival some department stores on all counts so it is a real treat for me to go in there and look at smaller sizes.

My resale shops don't usually take bras so thanks for the ideas!

I have 42 & 38DDD that are too big now.
I'm set with 36DDD & don't need more (or I'd for sure offer to take them!)

When I buy new ones (usually at Intimacy stores, I go to the one in Tyson's Mall in Va., not sure what other locations they are in), I take all the old ones that don't fit, and donate them there. They donate them to a charity, and give you 10.00 off your purchase for each bra you donate.

Do you have a place in your area that helps women in situations of domestic violence. Many times, women leave their homes with nothing. In my area we have Safe Place and they provide women with new wardrobes, in some cases, to start over.

Unfortunately, here in MD, most shelters do not take used bras. It has to do with COMAR, and in order to not get fined, they must follow COMAR policies.

I am going to check out a few thrift stores, both for profit and NFP. These are really comfortable Wacoal bras that are really cute - one in black and one in nude - if anyone here is interested, shoot me a message!

So bummed. I'm down to a 32DD. Just bought new bras. I wonder if there's a way to take them in?

I don't know how close you are to Howard County, but there are two bra specialty stores there that used to accept bras.

The first one is Bra La La in Maple Lawn, and the second is Mattie's Bra Shop in Ellicott City. Bra La La did once offer ten dollars off with the donation of a bra; not sure if they still do that.

Good Will also use to accept bras but I'm not sure of their policy anymore. Wacoal is a great brand and I'm sure someone would love to have them!
