  • Not being able to buy from 'normal' stores or being at the top end of the size range available and still nothing fits. I won't miss having to wear bike type shorts under my dresses to prevent thighs chafing. I won't miss not being able to see my toes without leaning over to see past my belly!
  • Feeling like I have a pretty face but an ugly body that I am ashamed of
  • WahineByTheSea and
Quote: Christmas watching my sister get a bunch of cute clothes and I get basically fashionable muumuus.

Going shoe shopping for boots and realizing that wide calf is made for someone with smaller calves than me.

Wearing sweatshirts all the time because they cover the muffin top because someone refused to go up another size in jeans.
I have GIANT calves (and always will, apparently) and have had some luck with boots with widewidths.com. (The wide widths refers to the calf size, not a foot width.)
  • From a man's perspective. I won't miss being told I am not overweight by everyone when I know that I am, having constant lectures about health issues from my parents, always getting on one side of a picture because one side of my face looks slimmer, always covering up my gut with a pillow when I sit down, and being the one guy who leaves his shirt on while we are ridding on a boat. Oh and what I really won't miss is not dancing with friends because I don't want to be the sweaty fat guy. I am going to be the sweaty guy and I am fine with that, but I want people to know its because I sweat not because I am overweight.
  • I will not miss worrying about whether or not my husband is bothered by my weight. He says he's not, but he doesn't know how much I weigh!
  • I won't miss going out somewhere thinking I look pretty good - only later to see photos of the event and feel like I looked awful.

Oh Trinny! I feel ya here. I would leave the house all dolled up feeling good, then see pics on facebook and go OMG I look like a house!

    Good luck on your journey!
  • ditto nolasmurf & trinny. just happened last night, got home and saw a pic my friend posted and I wanted to cry!
  • This is a great thread-- So many things we all share. I won't miss:
    - Chub Rub
    - Layering shirts to make sure everything is covered and not too much back fat is visible
    - being the fat "funny" friend
  • Hearing "you look so different in your pictures", and feeling invisible when around the opposite sex.
  • This may be vain, but I won't miss being the largest person among a bunch of thin, fit, women in my social circle .
  • Leaving behind those lovely sweat marks on seats.
