This is the most unusual diet anecdote I have heard. Imagine a world where eating low carb was mainstream & rich food required special clinics and alternative cookbooks preparation!

LOL..well..that happened in our house. My DH..who did/does NOT need to lose weight...said my dinners look healthy and delish...and he wanted me to STOP preparing 2 meals. Since August he eats what I eat. Before the holidays he started hijacking my stash of protein drinks a few days a week instead of a "Real Lunch". His blood glucose has always been in the normal range, but always high normal.. (Over 112 often as high as 117)....and something we kept tabs of. He had a routine physical in late Dec and it was 99. He donated blood last week and it was 93! He went on a modified P1 for a week after Christmas and lost 5 lbs in 8 days! He is converted and now kneels at the alter of lo carb living. Most of the time.

He is on board. Boy is he ever. Now ..he can snack, and have wine and it does not affect him the way it affects me...but he is quite happy with grilled protein, a salad and a fresh veggie for dinner. Tuna for lunch or a protein drink and a salad. No rice and not so many starchy things in his salads...and he has cut was back on wine. (Tired of drinking alone I guess!!)

So...this diet and the new lifestyle may actually look pretty good...even to those who don't think they need it!!!

What great and positive thoughts from everyone! So good to read how everyone else sees their journey and know that the feelings I have are not unique to me - for the longest time I thought i was the only person in the world who felt unhappy, trapped and despairing of ever being able to do anything about it. I know that's not true and the people here have helped me so much to overcome those feelings and support me while I made the changes necessary to make my life so much better.

Big hugs to everyone! :grouphug:

Ruth Ann - such great and true words. It IS very comforting to know that I am not alone in this journey, because all I need to do is come here and work things out. I have not felt this positive and happy about life in a long time.

I wake up in the morning figuring what I am going to accomplish today. I am not depressed, I do not hate myself or my image in the mirror, and look forward to that day being better than the day before.

Thank you IP and all you sweet and kind people here!
