    The Quest Coconut Cashew bars don't fit our IP profile for alts (or maybe you could call them Super-restricted and limit to once/week). They have too much fat. Take fat calories (60) multiply by 3 (no more than 1/3 calories from fat) and you can see that there are too many calories from fat in this bar. You'd want no more than 56 calories from fat to be less than 1/3
    The other Quest Bars that don't work (based on fat content) or would be Super Restricted:
    Vanilla Almond Crunch,
    Mixed Berry Bliss,
    Peanut Butter Supreme,
    Peanut Butter & Jelly,
    White Chocolate Raspberry,
    Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough


    All of the other Quest bars would be restricted. There are two that fall right on the edge between restricted & non (Choc Peanut butter & Strawberry Cheesecake). Fat cals are under 1/3 (but not way under) and they both have 8 g net carbs. I still personally call them restricted, altho some use them as nonrestricted. Make your decisions carefully and determine what works based on WIs.
    Okay, I'm a really confused The Quest Coconut Cashew bars should be fine because the total calories are 170 and the calories from fat is 50. If you multiply 50 x 3, you get 150, which is less than the 170 total calories. Since it's under 30% calories from fat and the net carbs are 4g (if you subtract the fiber and the sugar alcohols), wouldn't this bar be acceptable as a non-restricted?

    I guess I'm not understanding why these would be restricted when they follow the IP guidelines... can you (or anyone) explain why they are restricted?

    Also, if the Quest bars are indeed restricted, what can I substitute for them as a snack? I like to split my snack up - 1/2 between breakfast & lunch and 1/2 between lunch & dinner. Thanks!!

    But you are correct, it seems as if fat stats have changed for this product since evaluated over a year ago. They're less than 30% fat.

    Here's a really good graphic for choosing products. The higher (under 200 calorie) was a cut/paste error & there was info missing & then it got cut/pasted over & over. 200 was max for restricted. Most non restricted are 80-120 calories

  • When I have an especially active morning, I have 1/2 a quest bar mid-morning. Then I'll have the other half at my regular snack time in the mid-afternoon.

    I started doing this when I felt light-headed and dizzy during my second class of the morning. I realized I needed something to tide me over when I only had 80 calories of an IP drink in me.

    I do this about once or twice a week at the most. They're expensive, but very high in protein. They also have the carb boost that I need when being active. I've been using the chocolate brownie and the coconut cashew flavors.

    Other than that, I have PT chocolate soy puffs, IP snacks or drinks, or even a chocolate Zone bar for snacks. Sometimes I'll just have an RTD chocolate drink. Hmmm - the theme here is that a tiny taste of chocolate makes me happy and keeps me on track.

    You can have a restricted for your snack...you just can't have 2 restricteds in one day. Phase 1 is 2 non-restricteds and one restricted every day. Some people choose to do all non-restricteds, but I think having one higher carb item a day helps control my cravings.

    I love Quest bars for my snack (dessert). Unfortunately, my favorite is the cookie dough and that's considered a "super restricted", meaning you should only have it 1x per week!

    Yes, it does, thank you so much! I just bought a bunch of Quest Natural bars on www.Netrition.com, and I'm so glad it's okay to have 1 per day (which is what I was doing).

    So far, I only like the Cinnamon Roll, Coconut Cashew, and Strawberry Cheesecake, so at least I can have some variety.

  • I had the proti-diet chocolate pudding yesterday...I have to be honest, it was okay but, didn't blow up my skirts.

    Agreed. I feel the same way about the vanilla. I bought a box of Health Smart dulche de leche, which is a little better but not great.

  • I'm starting back again 100% IP Alternatives. I messed up pretty bad with all the stress and now I'm back to 235. Really going to work hard at this. I have my order from Nashua and hope to reach my goal this year finally. Does anyone know of an Alternatives link on Twitter or facebook? My cell has trouble with the 3fc site...
