Satisfied late-night Pizza Craving

  • So tonight I felt like if I didn't have pizza I might die. So! Whilst searching for a carb-free pizza alternative stumbled upon this recipe for cauliflower pizza crust.

And omg y'all. It really is that good. Tasted just like thin crust pizza! I put pesto, bacon crumbles, basil and a bit of daiya cheese on mine. I'm not sure if daiya is cheating, it's not dairy, it's sugar free and it's 7g carbs per 1/4 cup.

But I'm sure it would be just as tasty without the cheese!

  • Looks delicious, however i would avoid the cheese and the bacon.

I attempted to make cauliflower taco shells but I failed miserably. Didn't squeeze enough water out before baking it. Haven't been motivated enough to try it again since.
  • That does look good, but unfortunately the daiya cheese has way too many carbs in it. Anything that's not on the sheet is supposed to be 0/0/0 (although I believe the new sheets say nothing that's not on the sheet). And bacon crumbles fall in the same category.

You might try topping it with just allowed veggies - bet it would be just as yummy! Maybe some chicken too?
  • Roast some red peppers and garlic, then food process it with some herbs, salt, pepper and olive oil. It makes a great sauce for your pizza or if you make zucchini noodles. Try portobello mushrooms as a topping!
  • Best solution I found for ANY late-nite craving is to go to bed.
Best way to stay On Plan: plan all menus in advance. I usually plan tomorrow's menu while cleaning up dinner dishes.

That keeps me away from off-plan items like bacon and soy cheese

Mine too Lisa. By going to bed/sleep then I don't think about it and the next day is a new day.
  • Thanks for all the input! I'm still new to this.

I do shift work so I don't get off until 11:30. What seems like late-night to others is like 6pm to me! So that was my dinner last night.

Daiya cheese actually isn't soy based so I figured it might be alright. Guess I'll go cheeseless next time! Sad news about the bacon crumbles but I'll live

    Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

Don't beat yourself up about it. At least you made a healthier alternative than ordering up a real pizza!
