I also just found the simply chips yesterday, so I will alternate my restricted between those and bars. I have also had simply bars in the past, but find the bars I get at Costco to be the cheapest and tastiest.

Can I ask the nutrition info on the premier protein bars you use? The ones at my Costco are too high in calories and carbs for IP. I see lots of people posting about using them, just wondering which ones fit the program.

Good news! I hope the cortisone helps and there is no need for an MRI.

I just started fitting into my 12's! I have a big bum and hips though so the waists of my jeans are a bit baggy but often tight in the thighs :o Probably won't be fitting into my 8's and 10's for another 10-15 lbs. Can't wait!

I am right with you two! I was in twelves till i hit the 140's, and right now I fluctuate between a ten and an eight (mostly 10's). After the holidays, I will do a bit of P1 to take off any holiday weight and maybe get into eights comfortably.

Great idea! Also, maybe bring some sparkling water and flavoring to have some "bubbles" and celebrate! Remember, some shrimp cocktail (minus the sauce) is also P1 friendly, and one could bring that to a party if it is not already being offered.

LOL I do not want to trade places with you, especially after being on this program. I get so cold so easily now! And, as a teacher, I live for snow days!

The premier protein bars aren't OP. I just get the premier protein RTD shakes and then detour or pure protein bars. :)

I started using alternatives a few weeks ago as well to save some money. I ordered a bunch of things from Nashua - mostly Protidiet, Proti Thin, and Healthsmart. I did a lot of research and looked through the alternative threads to really make sure I was choosing things with similar nutritional values. I like the Protidiet oatmeals (unrestricted) and puddings, and HealthSmart cinnamon cereal (unrestricted). Proti Thin makes a really decent fusilli pasta that's unrestricted, vanilla crispy treats (restricted), and chocolate soy puffs that seem to be identical to the IP ones for a restricted option. I also use Quest bars occasionally.

I am supplementing the Nashua stuff with protein powder from GNC. They have lots to choose from and can help you find a low carb one. I am using Sun Warrior Classic Raw Protein powder in chocolate and vanilla.

Hope this helps!

nolasmurf 12-09-2013 09:56 PM

I use the EAS Carbadvantage drinks from SAMs/Costo (two 24 packs lasts me almost a month) and then stuff from Nashua for restricted.

Susie - would you mind PM'ing me your list of "go to" stuff you get? My sister wants to try IP but because of the cost, she'll have to use alternatives. I've been browsing through the alternative threads but it's confusing for me and since you're in Ontario, we should (hopefully) be able to get the same stuff here :)

Thanks!

Walmart, pharmacies and grocery stores carry them. I like the chocolate deluxe.

slownsteady 12-10-2013 08:13 AM

Thanks for all the info on the alternatives! Purplemomster, my sister wants to try with alternatives also :) And I'm considering at least using the EAS choc drinks in place of the IP choc drink mix. Sure will be more cost effective! Hope it's as good. Everyone have a wonderful day!

Happy Tuesday!

We went out last night where there was lots of drinking and foods that immediately will make me swell up (since breaking from P1, I notice any gluten does it so I restrict)

Eating clean makes me feel so much better!
I took some Mio.
At this point, I don't feel deprived. Deprived of what? Feeling puffy and bloated? I'll pass.

So glad IP taught me new ways of acting and reacting toward food.

I was tired, achy and hungry all weekend. Ate way more than I should have and had a few off plan items. :(

Send some positive vibes my way today ya'll. my daughter (16) has an appt with an orthopedist. She did a jump in dance last week and when she landed her left knee buckled, she's been all week and the trainer at school (a physical therapist and kinisologist) thinks she torn the patellar tendon. She's so upset because the Sugar Bowl is in a few weeks and she was chosen to dance in the halftime show. She's worked hard since Sept raising money to pay for it and learn the moves. Hoping it's just a strain!

Hope everyone has a good day, those of you with snow, stay warm!

Hope everything with your daughter was okay. Just wanted to tell you that you look great! I haven't been on the boards much due to crazy hectic schedules at this time of year, but your picture looks like a whole new you--CONGRATS.

I am celebrating One-Der-Land this week. Never thought that 4 pounds would mean more than any other 4 pounds, but I am dancing in the hallways:D And I "shopped" for a holiday outfit in the back of my closet. Found a great outfit I had worn several years and pounds ago, and truly it is a little loose! I could not have done this without all of your support, encouragement, advice, and RECIPES!

Have a great day, Dee

Congrats!!!! Onederland is definitely a huge mental victory... something about seeing that one instead of a two... I hit 200.0 this morning... can't wait to dance in my hallways!!!

shrinkingsusie 12-10-2013 08:42 AM

Good morning all!! Decided to do some measurements this morning since I noticed yesterday my pants were very saggy, and I am down a total of 11 inches off my waist and 10 inches from my hips!! I tried on a pair of 33 jeans that I bought a few years ago and still had the tag on them... a little bit of muffin top but I'm definitely wearing them today!!

My husband said we are going to do some Christmas shopping after work this evening... wish me luck!! :p

I'm with you Lisa - I haven't really felt deprived since I started IP. I can make yummy foods (I love the recipe threads!) and there's things I think "oh, that would be good." but it's just a passing thought - all that stuff will be there later.

And really, I don't find myself missing much of anything - I have totally changed my tastes in food. Before I would think a fat, carb, salt-laden dinner with a sugary dessert was delicious. Now a burger patty wrapped in lettuce and some roasted cauliflower or rutabaga or turnips makes me drool! Amazing how our tastes change.

Lisa - I could not agree with you more. Eating clean not only makes me "feel" so much better from not being bloated, but it also makes my mind "feel" better and encourages me to keep going.

I have struggled through a tough phase but hope that I am out of the woods. I am still at the same lowest weight so at least I have one battle I did not have to fight.

For all of us, I think the battle is the Christmas evening get togethers - work, friends, business related, whatever. I am still hoping to get through that successfully and still lose some more before the end of the year. Then the really-get-serious approach will come out.

I have two family weddings to get to next year, one with my five siblings who have not seen me in for many many pounds. They do not know what I am doing so I hope to do some shocking! Several months later I have our oldest son's wedding and I REFUSE to be the old fat saggy lady in an ugly tent of a dress.

I have been on P4 for, what?, 2.5 weeks now, I think. I haven't done a cheat day yet. I just haven't been feeling it. Sometimes I think "Oh I could have some ice cream." And then I think I would rather have a satsuma. Funny. I haven't felt like I have been missing out either. WTG, Lisa!

Hi everyone,

Justdoinit- hurray for reaching Onederland!!! :woohoo: You deserve to feel so proud and joyful.

Run4three- 5.8 down is an amazing WI

Lisa, Ruthann and Sarita, it is funny, I do not miss the carb food- I miss avocado and olives. I do think IP changes your food preferences, it has also helped me realize foods role in my life-fuel not comfort.

Nolasmurf, so happy that your daughter will be well for her Bowl performance!

SaraBell- stay warm!

I just finished planting the last spring bulbs as the snow began to come down. I love the promise of new beautiful flowers after the winter. By the time those flowers come up, I will be at goal. That realization was a joyful moment for me.

drivebynotthru 12-10-2013 11:03 AM

to all my alternative buddies: how do you get the lumps/chunks out of your protidiet/protithin hot chocolate?

nolasmurf 12-10-2013 11:19 AM

Thanks all for the well wishes for Katie! She works so hard and gets so down when she has a set back. This kid is amazing (I know we all say hat about our kids) she's so goal driven and tries to do everything. I have to remind her to slow down!

Sitting here enjoying a coffee and EAS cafe caramel mixed. Such a yummy treat for the chilly morning!

I just mix the heck out of it with a whisk. I also put the water in first, then add the powder so none gets stuck at the bottom. And I add more water than the packet calls for.

jemma51 12-10-2013 11:40 AM

Good morning everyone. Another day off work, schools closed again due to ice. I haven't left my house for four days. Gotta get out today and get some veggies. Yesterday I spent several hours going through the recipe threads trying to come up with something new to cook. I'm a pretty picky eater and pretty much eat the same thing everyday. Sometimes I think it's just easier to eat the same thing so I don't focus on food too much. When I do make something different it's like a flavor explosion. LOL

I used to really enjoy watching the "Food Network" I can't do it any more...

Anyway, wishing everyone a successful day.:carrot:

What a nice way to reward yourself unexpectedly! It's interesting psychologically. You planted something in the ground today, which - in several months - will emerge beautifully, having shed its husk and grown stronger. Much like your own journey should be! Congrats!

schenectady 12-10-2013 01:03 PM

OK - Red Letter Day for me, albeit a very small one! After wandering lost for not quite two months, I have finally lost one pound below where I was when I wandered off.

What that does for me is give me impetus to push on - I am no longer dealing with the weight I had already lost, with staying the same. Today is a new day and I am one pound less, finally, than I was the day before.

Look out world. I have 27 pounds to Onderland and our wedding anniversary is on the 27 January. My new goal.

Thinking of numbers that work well together, anyone heard from 65X65? I miss her calm and wise supporting advice. Know she is dealing with her beloved mother's death, but if anyone is in contact with her, please send along warm thoughts.

Justdoinit: welcome to onderland. Just think: Your weight never has to start with a "2" again!

Try one word: Protidiet.
Nashua nutrition is a good source for products, as well.

It sure does! I worked guac into one of my early P3 breakfasts b/c I too missed avocado.
My first fun meal was nachos...because I missed cheese and avocado. My friend who lost 50 on IP has never regained her taste for cheese. That probably would have been a good thing for me, as well.

Definitely shake first then heat. If not, use the whisk method susie suggested. But head after it is smooth.

May I ask Dee the date you started IP, I stared Oct 25th, 2013 and have lost 24lbs, and I notice you have lost 38lbs. Are you 100% no slips? I'm jelous of your progress, although of course this is a personal journey.

Hi all: Happy "snow day" wednesday. If only it weren't so easy to work from home... I'd love a "real" snow day :)

Work is crazy for me in December so I haven't been on the boards as much though I try to check in and read. It's so important to be able to reach out to people who are experiencing some of the same ups and downs.

Some very nice milestones. Congrats to all!

I am trucking along. It's a little more challenging with my schedule now being more crazy, and of course the holiday "cheer" (food and drink) but i'm confident I can just keep on keepin' on.

IP POWER to you! (Of course it's really your power, our power, IP just helps us along)

Happy Hump Day!

I can handle restaurants-what are your tips for handling social occasions at someone's home! I am committed to sticking to the plan and could use all your words of wisdom and advise-Since we will be in a hotel overnight-I know I can take a restricted bar for each day but whats easy to do that is unrestricted??
TIA-

Be prepared and bring your own food. I went to a friends for a party assuming there would be some veggies or something I could eat and was sadly mistaken. There was pizza, poppers, onion rings , candies, nuts and tons of alcohol. I was spending the night and wasn't prepared. I ate as little as possible as to not starve. I should have been prepared and had nobody to blame but myself.

I've had people give me a hard time by not participate in their eating. I just tell them that I am on a really restrictive diet because I am trying to reduce my blood pressure without meds. Which is the truth.

sarahBell 12-10-2013 07:24 PM

I am going to push my own envelope here: I am challenging myself to stay 100% until Feb. This is going to be sooooo hard for me. I mean it is going to really push me mentally and fight my sweet tooth. So I am officially announcing my own challenge. I just hope I have the will power to do it. Because I can be so close by Feb. I know I can I just need discipline!

I started IP with alternatives (due to cost issues) on October 7th. I try to be 100% OP when I can control my food, but I travel and dine out for work at least 2 days each week. I have been eating a dish before, thinking "hmmmm, this dressing does not taste like oil and vinegar". I also don't eat beef due to diet issues, so I have a lot of fish and poultry. But my 4 pound loss this week was a surprise...a few 1-2 pound weeks in a row. I did just start doing a yoga fusion routine which I LOVE. The bottom line is IP works! And thanks to this site, we are empowered with the knowledge to take the program and make it OUR individual journey. You're right at the point I was a few weeks ago!
