Cooked too long!
They're bitter when burnt
I do mine for about 10 mins then flip & 5-10 more mins in a 300F oven. Watch VERY carefully and take out as soon as they're crisp

Shipping your packets

Luccilove- thanks! I got the idea to ship the supplies from seeing your earlier posts. Great idea! Getting that package out today eased my anxiety about how I would stay OP at my parents' house. They are not the healthiest eaters and consequently both are overweight and have diabetes; which is a big reason why I need to get my weight down so that I do not end up with their health problems. Maybe they'll learn something from me while I'm there.

KookySuki--I totally agree. When I mailed and they got it - it was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I was impressed with myself that I actually did that for myself.

My parents are the same way we are all obese, mom has diabetes, Dad had a kidney transplant because he did not take care of himself (he is fine now). They eat out for almost every meal-so that was tough but I did it. It was the first time I went to American restaurants. I was very surprised how supportive they were and they noticed right away that I had lost weight. They were accommodating as to where we went for lunch or dinner. When I met with friends or other family members I would have the garlic soy chips in the car or before I met them and had a salad and brought my own WFarms dressing packets and salt with me. It worked great every time. Before visiting I did not tell anyone except my parents and brother I was on IP. So if others asked I told them and everyone was curious and supportive. It was nice.

What I learned while I was home is mainly how bad my family eats and my habits basically come from my parents. So I can see how early on I gained lots of weight.

The day I got off the plane we went food shopping for my veggies and proteins- to have in the house. It was all good.

You will have fun and relax. Half the battle is done - u mailed ur packets! Very proud of u - it takes alot to do that. I didnt think it was until my coach said it showed I wanted to stick to the program and pre plan. Never thought of it that way.

I am so glad for this group of ladies (and gent).. We may bicker like family, but in the end, we're all standing up being the cheerleaders and supporting each other.

I know for a fact that the journey to getting healthy would not be as easy if I weren't "doing it" with others who are in the same boat.

Thanks for sharing that. I don't often find other people who have parents with eating habits/health issues like mine. Your parents sound exactly like my parents, except my dad does not have kidney issues yet. I say yet because both of my parents continue to eat fast food and take out and also keep junk food at home. I can see where I learned my bad food habits and binging. I've had to teach myself how to cook and buy/store fresh veggies etc. We only ate frozen veggies growing up, no salads, and lots of hamburger based dishes (spaghetti with meat sauce, chili, hamburger helper) and also restaurant food, chips/Cheetos as snacks, and alway had ice cream in the house. Of course I'm thankful to them for putting food on the table, but I've had to work really hard to learn and adapt healthy habits since I left the home at 18 for college.

I really wish I could afford to put both of them on IP because I think they'd be successful with it, but I can barely afford it for myself so I won't be putting them on it. My mom actually made a comment that she's excited to see if she can learn some healthy habits from me, so I'm going to show her how I make my meals. We'll definitely do a trip to the grocery store on the way home from the airport.

Being around them and seeing all of the medications they're on, how they struggle to walk short distances, and how they eat saddens me, but also motivates me to take my health seriously and make it a priority. Thanks for the support and I'll keep you posted on how it goes. :)

Totally agree...this board has been so helpful to me and has spared my friends from hearing about IP too much. :D

Good morning all! Am finally back after a very long holiday. I think I did well at my parents house considering the stress and travel and everything else. Will find out on Tuesday when I weigh in. Am hoping for at least a maintain, but a loss would be great.

It was a good trip, but kind of bitter sweet as well. My younger brother has stage four colon cancer and will be undergoing treatment soon. It was hard to watch him knowing how sick he really is, especially when he was with his children (who are all under the age of 5). The sad part is, he doesn't "look" sick right now. I guess we can be thankful for that.

Other than that, things went well. My husband and I walked every day and I made sure to eat my foods when possible and when I couldn't, I was in control. If anything, this has taught me how to remain in control of my choices.

I will go back and read all the past posts, but it could take a while. Lots to catch up on, but I wanted to stop in and say hi! Sounds like everyone is doing great.

Welcome back. I'm truly sorry about your brother's cancer. I wish him the best. I hope you have a good WI.

Hi all,

Welcome home Emsmom, my thought and prayers go out to your family.

This week, I have had hives on my face twice. Read the old thread about rashes and IP and until today was not sure of the cause. Now I know-soy puffs! Another night of Benadryl for me.

wantanewme 12-06-2013 01:21 PM

hey october friends!
how's everyone doing today?
we're having a cold, rainy friday here. i just chocked down 2 cups of raw broccoli and had a hot cappuccino mixed with coffee.
just wanted to check in and say hi. the scale hasn't been moving much for me the last few days. i'm blaming TOM which should be here in a day or two. otherwise doing well and staying on plan.
i hope you're all having a good, OP friday.

Hi everyone,

Off to the first of many Christmas parties. The hives have not really gone away and I want to stay home. I won't because it would hurt my good friend, so I need to get motivated to suck it up. My plan is to arrive late with a cup of coffee in hand. Was going to get all fancied up, but it is pouring rain here. Rain and hair=up do!

I am really afraid that I am having a soy allergy. IP is going to get a lot harder if that is the case. There are like 6 things not made with soy. Pray the hives go away, please.

Hope that you have a great night! I am going to focus on the people and hope that the spirit of Christmas takes over :D

LUCCILOVE 12-06-2013 05:01 PM

Slipfree--

Have fun tonight at your XMAS party.

I am thinking I am having a soy issue too as my tongue problem has not gone away. Going to see an oral surgeon to make sure it is nothing major. My ENT and Endocronogist think it has something to do with the IP diet - like a reaction or allergy to the food I am eating. I did not have this before I started IP. I get allergy shots every week already and take allegra every day. We will see.

Anyone experimented with celery root (celeriac) yet? I got one and will see what I come up with.

Have a good weekend everyone. It is raining in DC too!

I had a TOTAL hissy fit last January when I quit soy but I'm feeling better so it was worth it. I'd suggest cutting soy & see if that causes symptoms to go away.

IP CAN be done without soy. I cut soy protein. The soy lecithin doesn't seem to be the cause.

LUCCILOVE 12-06-2013 05:16 PM

lisa32989--

What was your issues or side effects of the soy? How did you know? How long did it take to feel better once you cut it out?

wantanewme 12-06-2013 05:39 PM

sorry about all the problems with soy. that must be very annoying :(
which of the products have soy?
