Have you tried benefiber mixed into whatever you are drinking/eating? that does help too :)

Yes, you can take Colace. My nutritionist recommended either Peri Colace or Senna. I took Senna and it helped me alot! Once you get back on track with digestion, you can also take sugar-free Metamucil everyday. Also, make sure you are eating lots of lettuce...it helps move things along! Good luck!

I would just check the label on the metamucil and make sure it doesn't contain aspartame. I seem to remember ruling it out when I needed somthing, due to the aspartame.

There are more than one type of metamucil...one has no added sweeteners. It is the "original" formulation. They also make at least one other that is "flavored" . That is the one I believe which has the aspartame..The label on the one I have says psyllium, maltodextrin (which IS sugar) and citric acid. This one has 5 g of carbs, which I assume is from the maltodextrin, (interestingly listed as an inactive ingredient?) and 3 g of fiber.

{I have been on nearly everything under the sun which Walgreens sells for this problem... OTC as well as RX for the big "C" in the last 8 weeks trying to make sure I don't end up with an obstruction again.} Colace is also part of my regimen. And Miralax...and MgCitrate. {All Dr's orders and all things I can't wait to be rid of!}

Oh that does not sound like fun at all :( I hope you can ditch all of that stuff and get back to having a Metimucil free life!

I have psyllium from our last trip over seas. this stuff is colorless, odorless, tasteless. you need to mix it with juice or something and drink fast or it jells up on you and then it's nasty! I have not used it for a loooooooooong time but it is here just in case!

Thx Sarabell...actually...it's been pretty awful, and been trying not to share too much about it. (It really is TMI..lol.) Hoping it's nearly over....and believe as I phase off things will get back to normal. Do worry for others when I hear they are having problems tho'.... I may be the resident expert on this topic...not a badge I really want to wear.

Wear your badge like a US Marshall show only when needed, other than that keep it under wraps :P
