Who started August 2013? Part II :)
Good Morning!
Since we were getting close to 500 posts (and I gather around 500 is the limit), as promised, I have started "Part II" of our "Augusters" thread (though we certainly invite all commenters!)!! Thanks, everyone, for making this a place where we can compare notes, offer support, share knowledge, vent our disappointments as well as celebrate our victories as we go through this journey together!! We will have NO DROPOUTS in this class of August 2013!! So we don't lose track of all the great info in the original thread, here is a link to Part I. Thanks, Lisa, for the instructions on how to embed a link! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...ach-other.html And if you haven't checked in for awhile, please do! Have a beautiful Sunday! |
Bump! Want this to be ahead of the old Auguster's thread so this one will be used. ;)
|
wondering....
Is there a way to edit and link the original thread to the first post here?
There are some great things that get lost sometimes when a thread changes to volume ii or iii etc... |
Thanks for keeping this great thread going slownsteady! Hope you are doing well, from the looks of your ticker, you are doing spledidly well, in fact! :D
I haven't received access to my ticker yet. I understand that it needs to be 20 full days of being active on the site. Not sure where I fall. But question, where does the signature link appear - do I have to go into the Edit Profile section or, when I enter User CP will I see a link that will allow me to create a ticker once it is time? Sorry if this is redundant - I checked around but couldn't find the info. In other news, I want to make those Kale Chips today that everyone seems to rave about. Have you had them and if so, do you like? Have a relaxing Sunday Slownsteady & Everyone! |
Good morning!
I started on Aug. 25, which, in retrospect was a bit crazy, as it was the day before school started. I thought that would prove difficult, but it has been much easier than I thought it would! I just had my four week WI. Pretty happy with the results (down 18 pounds so far). I just joined is community, but I have been reading the forums for a while to get ideas and support. Thanks for this thread! |

Good morning everyone. First I want to say thanks to everyone for your support, it really helped me get over my disappointment with my week 1 loss. Yesterday was such an emotional sinkhole for me, I was exhausted and went to bed before 10 pm! I've stayed on plan tho, even tho I worked a bake sale in the neighborhood and brought home cakes for my family! I'm determined to make this work! Hope you all have a great Sunday! Cooking out tonight, will have grilled mahi mahi, yum!!
|
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the welcome and the support. I've been avoiding my lesson plans, hanging out on the forums instead. Better get to work! LOL

Good morning! I've am doing a bead/jewelry show all weekend so my normal routine is all messed up, but I've managed to stay OP. I took a bag of lettuce and munched it like potato chips when I got really hungry -- kind of weird but what the heck! Also had some zucchini slices and a mango drink for lunch, then had my evening IP (vanilla drink) for a late afternoon snack since I knew I'd be starving. Came home and had my usual dinner.
I sure hope today is better in other ways -- I stayed up late Friday night to get all my stuff ready and my car loaded, got up early yesterday so I could have a full two hours to set up my display . . . went out to the garage and my car wouldn't start. Had to call AAA and wait for them . . . it was the battery and thankfully the guy had one with him so he swapped it out for me and I got to the show an hour before opening instead of two hours, but I got there so that was good! Then after all that the crowds were very, very thin and my total sales for 8 hours yesterday were . . . $10. I spent $93 on the battery before I left the house, plus the table space was $85 . . . I sure hope things pick up today! Lots of people stopped and told me how incredible my work was, but no one bought anything. But the sellers around me and I still had a fun time of it, and I won a couple raffles so that was cool! But I really want to (a) make some money, and (b) get rid of some of my stuff!! Well, if I don't get going I'll be late again today so I better move along. Have a great day everyone, and let's all continue to be big losers! |

Keep your eye on the future -- this is all temporary -- but when we come out on the other side, not only will we look and feel good physically, but we'll also have new confidence that we can do ANYTHING!! |
Ticker
KareVT - I am certainly NO expert on this stuff but I will pass along what I experienced when I did this recently. You do go to User CP and I think the first line would be "Edit Signature" if you are now allowed to add the ticker. If so, follow the instructions and it will lead you to the part of the process where you get to choose you ticker line and decos.

Good morning my August friends!!! Hit the 20 pound mark on the home scale today!! Whooo-hooo!!
|
Slownsteady / Schenectady - Thank you both for helping me with my ticker inquiry. Makes sense now that I know what I am searching for. I like all of the tickers I see, it adds more fun & color to the page, not to mention that it is really interesting to read the stats.
slownsteady - I too feel like I've been on here for more than 20 days, LOL. Oh well, I guess I need to practice patience and my ticker will soon appear. Have a great Sunday and talk to y'all later! :beach: |

Try this link for your weight tracker ... (I hope the link works for you!) http://www.3fatchicks.com/diet/weight-tracker/ |
Gosh I just love the IP Diet ... it's so predictable and (can I say it) boring! I have seen a bit of a slowdown in weight loss this month (which I was expecting due to my rapidly dropping BMR). I was losing about 0.75 pounds per day on average in August; and now I am losing 0.60 pounds per day on average in September. I will take that!

Last night I tried the Mock Zucchini "Apples" - yum! Very strange, but it did taste like apples. That's one I'll definitely be making again. |
|
Thanks to all for the support and kind words yesterday. I just got a chance to read them all and was truly touched. I don't get to sign in everyday but am grateful for these new 'virtual' friendships ☺️ You guys are the best!!!

Hello Team August! Hope ya'll are having an OP sunday! Went for Sushi Sunday with my coworker. (It's a ritual) He's been so kind to forgo it lately I wanted to give it a try. Our Sushi place across from the casino is great and one of our bar tenders does side work over there so I figured he could help me out.
They were great, I explained no gluten , dairy or sugar and they hooked me up with a WONDERFUL roll. It's called the Spring Love. It was seared tuna, crab stick, cucumber, asparagus and spinach wrapped in a soy wrapper. OMG ya'll! I also had a Spicy Tuna roll in a spinach flavor soy wrapper that was good. The guys were so cute , they asked about my diet and complimented me several times :o Needless to say they got a nice tip. LOL It's been a complete opposite day here at work, very slow! It's football season so that's pretty normal for home games. Our Saints are now 3-0 so we're very excited. Well I'm rambling so see ya'll later! |

Today's bead bazaar was slightly better than yesterday so I ended up only $10 short of making my booth rent . . . of course, I spent more then I sold, but oh well! No problems sticking to IP today. And I could definitely tell the pants I wore are getting too loose! Yay!! |

I wanted to add that your stats fascinate me - you're so savvy! Quote:
No idea what the mock zucchini "apples" are but I'm going to have to look that one up in the directory, that's for sure. Thanks for the tip. Vegetables can be totally disguised and tasty!:broc: |
The apples are SO good! And easy.
Go to the FinnSteven thread... Ideal Protein recipes & pix from Finland Then search: MOCK BAKED "APPLES" |

Good Monday Morning Everyone! I have to tell you about a book I read yesterday (yes, read the whole thing yesterday) that you MUST check out. I originally got a free "sample" version on my Kindle, loved it, so downloaded the whole book. The book is "Refuse to Regain!" by Barbara Berkeley, MD. It is devoted to strategies for maintaining your weight loss - no matter the method or diet you used to lose the weight - but has some great tips that I think can be used throughout your weight loss as well (for instance, dealing with sabotaging people, etc). I really urge you to check it out. |
Morning all. I'm week 2 now so no 5 proteins a day. Did ok yesterday, was busy running around so not to focused on the next time I eat! Does anyone have a suggestion for flavoring the water? I need just a little something on glasses 8-10. The powder they sell at my IP location is very expensive so if anyone knows of any substitutes, I'd be grateful. Happy Monday!!

Slow week after many restaurants challenges not totally met successfully - I have a lot to learn about eating out and asking questions and ordering. My last outing was a fancy spread/buffet for my husband's work. I managed well but did not think to even ask if I could get salad undressed or salmon without the glaze. Obviously if the restaurant had to restock the tables, they could have probably 'custom' made a plate for me.
I need to be more assertive in meeting my needs when out. These are real world situations we will all face when we are on maintenance and in all the years to come. I do not want to "hide" from eating out because I do not learn anything that way, and I miss all the fun. So chalk up a smaller weight loss to some great learning after the fact. Look forward to hitting -30 pounds next week, please! |
I'm sitting here at work avoiding doing anything productive. LOL This is usually how my Mondays are after a slam dunk weekend. I made the Broccoli Cheese soup into "bread" today according the to the recipe someone posted in the weekends daily thread and I'm am excited to have a chicken salad "sandwich" for lunch (Chix salad made with WF mayo)
Really hoping to break the 25lb mark on Thursday My half way goal will be 30 and I'd like to see that by Halloween. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Living in New Orleans it's like a mini Mardi Gras and I have a great costume to wear! :) I am going to go as Abby from NCIS (my favorite show and both my dogs are named after characters) Hope everyone is having a happy Monday |

Way to GO! |
schenectady, I can so relate! I use to get a salad once a week at "Choptd" before IP, I know they have shrimp so I went in today to order and I asked if their shrimp was coated in something! The manager was great, he looked it up - and it was (salt, canola oil, garlic, cayenne pepper) so I said no, I'll stick with the hard boiled eggs. But I never would have thought to ask if I hadn't read your post. So thanks! I also learned that their 'cups' are 1/4 cups so had to augment the salad with canned albacore tuna to get my 8 ozs. Feel like I dodged a bullet!!!
|
I have a question about the cauliflower "bread sticks" recipe. Does that count as 1 serving of veggies (2 cups) or more? I have an idea that I want to do with it but I need to know if they counted as 2 c first
Wrong thread sorry!!!! |
