Default Good Morning!! AGE question

Morning !! my mom just started the IP-Alternatives program with me. She is 71. she is in great health mentally and physically. I need some advice, for 4 weeks she has lost 8 pounds. she was 159 and she is 5 feet one inch. I am not sure, and not to offend anyone at all does age have any factor in the weight loss? I know my first month I was down like 17 pounds and I am 50.. any thoughts?
Have a happy lovely day ladies and gents

I had to jump in here.. I'm 65 and have lost about 70 pounds since January. My weekly losses were NOT like anyone under age 50 and the really younger members in their 30s and 4os . Expect that. Be happy with small victories... Be in it for the long haul because this is a healthy way to live the rest of your life... And tell her to read golden girls thread because a lot of us are in this range. It took me over the first month to get into a loss pattern of between2-3 pounds a week. As one ages... The skills of patience, realism and forgiveness (of self.... esp.).... Are true gifts one has earned the right to! Bring them out. Now is the time....

My mom lost 35 lbs last year at age 72. She was on IP products from May-Oct.

My Mom is getting ready to start on the Alternative program! She has already ordered all her food and will, hopefully, be starting next week. She has created a username for the forum here, I'm hoping to see her become an active member and experience the success of the IP way of life!

Well said, 65x65. I am 51. For me personally, growing older has been a gift just because I am really learning to experience just what you have said. It is wonderful.

I am 56 and losing pretty fast -- but it would make sense if younger people could lose weight faster (in theory at least) due perhaps to more muscle mass and a higher metabolism ???

There are of course more factors involved than just age. I'm 49 and average just under 2lbs a week loss. I was disappointed at first, but only when I compared myself with others. Now, I'm happy that even thought I'm a comparatively slow loser, I am losing steadily, and 2lbs a week is better than I ever accomplished prior to this. So, I guess the moral of my story is don't compare myself to others.
