Weight Loss Aches and Pains!!

  • I've noticed that my gait is completely different. So much so that my back has been killing me!!!! I'm going to see the chiropractor tomorrow and get an adjustment and a massage.

Since loosing weight has anyone else noticed major aches and pains as your muscles and joints adjust to carrying less?
  • Sorry...mine were all there before I lost weight. I'm just more willing to work on the problems now. I've been in Physical therapy seriously since April. I started some PT exercises through the chiropractor in January.

I would guess it is just about your posture and the supporting muscles.
  • I haven't had much for back pains, but my legs have for some reason felt a difference. Haven't been doing anything more than usual other than being on IP and holy cow! my legs sure are feeling it. All kinds of aches and pains!
  • I've read that whey protein can cause an autoimmune response in some people that causes arthritis type pain. It can also cause blackheads or acne.

I got off IP and all whey protein containing foods. When I changed to a more vegan diet (but, not vegan because I eat fish, poultry, and meat just not cow or any cow product), I noticed pain subsiding in 2-3 days. After a week my complexion cleared up and the pain was nearly gone. I wish I could get back on IP because I can't seem to drop weight any other way but, I couldn't deal with the pain either. I'm trying a plant based protein called, Vega One and some others. I've had an incredible energy boost one month after changing my nutrition. Last week I cycled 120 miles over 4 days (Monday 50 miles), swam laps for an hour without stopping and road horses twice during the week. Only problem is I also blew it by drinking wine 4 nights and I've gained 5 lbs!!

I wish I could do IP but, I'm going to keep trying to stick to the alternate program I've devised using vegetarian based protein and eating 2 c. Veggies for lunch and dinner.
  • Yes. Weight loss is sore...a little.
  • Several years ago I was seeing a physical therapist and she happened to mention to me one day that quick weight loss can be hard on your joints. I wish I had asked her more details about that at the time. I since have tried to research that on my own and have turned up nothing. All I can tell you from personal experience, though, is that my joints loved the quick weight loss.
  • Glad you brought this up because yes I definitely have some aches and pains and was going to post about this today. My shoulders feel sore at times and so does my back. Also, I was touching my face the other day and my jaw was tender...weird. It comes and goes for me. Sometimes it's annoying and other times I don't notice. Either way, it's not terrible but not great either.

Use a 10x mirror to see if your pores are clogged. If so, read my post above about whey protein.
  • Can't really tell but I just had a facial a week ago. I will keep an eye out...anything I should be concerned about you think?
