In light of my upcoming vacation starting Sept. 17 I have done P2 and am a few days into P3 (a little scary to be sure, but LOVING using my worksheet to plan some BREAKFASTS!!) Hoping to maybe even drop another lb or two through the end of P3.

Even though I will be in maintenance on vacation, I am NOT going in without a PLAN ! I will take some shake/drink packets and bars to use on some days, stick with a P3 sensible breakfast and an IP style lunch or dinner (protein, veggie), then I will be able to enjoy some extras without gorging.

No more "it's vacation so eat whatever you want!" I will focus on spending time with family and touring Washington DC to enjoy the sights without focusing on food options. I really know that I can be sensible AND enjoy myself.

I plan to return to P1 maybe early Nov. and phase through again to lose 5-10 more pounds, but it was time for me to move on, at least for now. (I really never thought this weight was possible for me since I haven't been here since... maybe High School!)
That is wonderful.. It does not all have to happen at once. This is YOUR plan !!
And so far it's a great one. Congrats!

So dinner tonight, turkey meatballs and sauce with mushrooms, zucchini, peppers, onions and mashed cauliflower.

Supper tomorrow, turkey burgers, faux cauliflower potato salad with mushrooms, radishes, peppers, onions, cucumbers.

Do u see a trend? Lol. Funny how same ingredients create a totally different meal!

Anybody try the new double chocolate brownie?

Delicious, plus it has 40% of your fiber for the day!

THANKS EVERYBODY for your Congrats on my reaching GOAL!

Without the collective support, enthusiasm, wisdom and knowledge of everybody on this forum and the open sharing everyone participates in every day, I would NOT have been able to do this.

So, THREE CHEERS for EVERYONE on the IP Forum for helping me along!

Group HUG everyone!!
(Do I hear Kumbaya wafting in the background??)

Color me GRATEFUL and BLESSED!!

Yes, I a, thinking along the same lines, I plan to go to another phase and not go crazy on carbs and gain a bunch of weight back, but want to be able to have a few drinks over the holidays, and give my body a bit of a break.. I am sure I will be worried about gaining to much back and will watch the scales carefully.. but I also know me and this much of a change to my diet is quite a chance to knowing that I HAVE to stick to it until Dec 16th no matter what and then I can chill a bit will help me a lot to stick to it.. I have some girls weekends coming up and just went to my first social function since starting and just packed my own food in my lunch bag and off I went. Thanks so much for all of the information you psot.. very helpful..

I would have been afraid to veer from P1 for one single bite.

But the health problems that have developed along the way helped me know that bodies can use a break from the VLC diets and the thyroid will thank you for the break. I Phased off in June but stayed OP, just not on P1. When I restarted, I counted out 12 weeks and that fell on Halloween week so I chose Halloween for my next phase-off.

I don't have to lose the weight with lightening speed. I just need to be healthy. Learning to maintain is important, too. The tortoise won the race anyway, not the hare.

My focus from the get-go has been on how I will maintain this loss, not on how quickly I will get to goal. (That's good b/c some of the physical ailments caused LONG stalls).

You have a very sensible approach!

Some people have commented that it was hard to return to P1, usually for a reboot. I guess I never strayed too far from protocol so that helped. P2 is pretty similar & I didn't have "fun days", even when I was doing P4.

I made sure I picked a "drop dead" date to return to P1 and I made it "public". I actually restarted one day early so I was truly committed to the restart.

Someone said you can use 'veggie cheese'. How is it used? Is it considered a veggie or a protein?

If you go low carb, there will be less active T3 made in the liver and you get hypothyroid. There is some mechanism in your body that adjusts for this after several weeks. However, there is a population of people where this does not happen. Since there is no functioning thyroid in your sis case, I guess it depends whether she just takes T4 or a mix of T4/T3. What I wrote about is also known as "low T3 syndrome" or "Euthyroid sick syndrome" or "non-thyroidal illness syndrome". I got this on the IP diet within a couple of weeks. Your sis should very carefully monitoring thyroid levels with her doctor (Note that even some endocrinologists will never have heard of this syndrome). I for myself would not do a ketogenic diet. Maybe the alternative protocol, but only under medical supervision.
Thank you so much for the info. She will be scheduling an appointment and I will make sure to pass this on to her. Thank you, thank you!

JLUS, so happy for you at reaching your goal. Congratulations!

It isn't on the protocol sheet.
Some people use a tablespoon or less as an occasional 0/0/0 condiment (which is also no longer on the protocol sheet)

Veggie cheese? Has anyone tried it, what is it like?

Well, the furniture and appliances were delivered yesterday but I forgot, the dishwasher needs to be installed. Guess what I'm doing today? Got to make a trip to Home Depot for a couple of things and then install my first dishwasher - wish me luck!

I've been eyeballing veggie cheese in the store but have yet to try it. Also, I want you to know that you are my new idol as I've been reading about all of your fix-it adventures! You rock.

Veggie cheese: I found it was good mixed into things to add flavor, like soups, but on its own it was just so-so. A little bit on a salad was ok too. I definitely found it to be something I could live without.

Hubby installed our latest dishwasher and it was hard! It took every milimeter of space it could in the space, unlike our older model. Also the newest hoses (supplied with the washer) did not have a clamp, but was treated with a gel that was to adhere everything together like glue. Well after a few high temp washes the gel broke down and water leaked everywhere. It was under warranty but the Sears guy used new hoses with clamps to replace! Just wanted to warn you in case your new washer came supplied with the new gel treated hoses!

Default tmi post

Okay, you are all forwarned, this may be a tmi post! Although nothing we haven't already thoroughly discussed on these boards.

Well, you know how we often have different dreams when we are doing IP? Last night I had a dream about, you guessed it, not being able to have a movement! Yes it's true.

But I have been thinking lately about my patterns. Before IP, I ate sooo much junk that I would go 5 times a day. Occasionally maybe even more.
NOW, I am down to once every 2 to 3 days! And before IP it was super easy to go, now it is much more difficult. I have never been in pain with this issue, but sometimes a little uncomfortable. Although the bright side of this problem is I don't have to worry about being inconvenienced at inopportune times! But anyhow is this what others are experiencing and is this pattern normal on IP? I think it is weird.

I just wrapped up my first week, and now having fewer and smaller BMs. I'm a once a day person always. I may add some flax seed meal if I slow down completely. I can't stand to want to go and then not be able to go, I remember that from my last IP journey.
