Rotini

  • Hi all,
Wondering about the IP Tomato Basil Rotini. It is not on my paperwork from my coach and I had seen some of Chef Verati's cool recipes using it so I am interested. Is it restricted? My coach says she does have it in stock. Why is it not on the forms??
  • It is unrestricted. It is one of the newer products.

Be aware that although it is unrestricted, it IS also one of the higher cal/carb unrestricted items.
  • Are you sure it's unrestricted? I had my first appointment last night and the assistant in the office said she thought it counted as my restricted for the day?? I hope it's not! I don't plan to eat it everyday but hate thinking that when I do, I can't have a treat that day (bar, chips, etc)
  • i have rotini every day for lunch (with broccoli and peppers and evoo). and i have restricted strawberry wafers every day for my snack. i'm losing 3.5 lbs a week.

According to the Ideal Protein literature, it is UNRESTRICTED. Untrained (or poorly trained) coaches or salespeople may not know and only go by calories or carbs.
  • So confusing! It's honestly making me doubt my coach! I have a friend that is a coach in another state and she said it is non restricted as well. Just trying to start off on the right foot here!
  • Just heard back from my coach that she was wrong and it IS an unrestricted item!!! Never doubted you guys!!! Thanks!
  • Just made the best lunch with the rotini and thought I would share

Saute zucchini and slices mushrooms with a little cooking spray and chopped garlic. Then add chopped spinach and a tablespoon or so of diced tomato. Add in cooked pasta with a little of the cooking water. Saute adding some EVOO, vinegar, green onion, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Let sauce thicken and dig in

I just tried the rotini for the first time and I love it, it is a great way to change up and feel like you are eating a real meal. I can't wait to play around with veggies and flavors, like asparagus, eggplant, broccoli, etc. Also would be good maybe to use one of the wf dressings as a sauce or with some ip friendly peanut sauce using wf products.... Next, I might try it with shredded chicken or pork, wf ranch and franks hot buffalo sauce.. yummy
  • I make a ground turkey meat sauce with the rotini. Pasta and meat sauce is so comforting! I use tomato paste, chopped tomato, peppers, mushrooms, onions (toss them in at the end so that they don't carmelize), and tons of seasoning.
  • Yummy ideas ladies! I'm off to WI this afternoon and was considering adding the Rotini to my pantry this time.
  • I wonder if it's unrestricted due to the new "resistant starch" science (some starches resist digestion so that some of the carb/calories cannot be used).

If so, the useable calorie/carb count may be lower than what appears on the label.
