Potato Puree
I was told today at my WI that the potato Puree was discontinued... Is this true? I was soooo excited to get some so I could make the potato rolls..
Does anyone know where I can find some? :?: |
hmmm...my clinic still had it as of Tuesday? But maybe they are unable to order more? Not sure, can't really help you out! Is the potato puree good? I haven't tried it yet!
|
I have been craving bread. I found a recipe for potato rolls on the forum and I was super excited to try them out... now I am super sad.. :(
Hopefully someone can find me some :dizzy: |
I took a stab at imitating the potato packet because it sounded so good, and I'm not on ip. I'm following "The Simple Diet" (from the book by Anderson and Gustafson, a doctor/dietitian team). The thread I posted my experimental recipes in, is around here somewhere in the IP forums. I think it's called something like Making homemade packets.
Most Medifast and IP products and alternatives fit into "The Simple Diet" guidelines for meal replacements such as shakes, soups, bars, and entrees, so I've been scouring the meal replacement threads for ideas. I haven't yet tried using my packet copy in the recipes, but I'll post when I do. |
Hmmm...did not hear that and my clinic had lots the last time I was there.
You're in North Dakota?? I could always send some from the "Great White North" - I'm probably not that far from you in Winnipeg :) Jo |
Oh my! We need to find out immediately!
We have some coaches on the forum. Anything??? |
emailing my clinic right now if this is true I am done! /jk Those rolls are the pinnacle of my week on Saturday and Sunday!!!!

Emailed my coach - will let you know what I hear. Also told her to hide all she has for me if the rumor is true. :-)

Thanks everyone for checking for me... When I asked for the potato puree she looked at me like I had 3 heads... lol
Hopefully its not discontinued, or I will hafta start bribing some of you to send me some! :) |
My coach said she hadn't heard that it was being discontinued but she set a box back for me just in case
|
I told my clinic to get me 3 boxes if they had any in their other office.. this was after she told me they were discontinued.
Maybe I just need to find an office that will ship me the products they won't carry.. Any suggestions? |
The awesome owner of my clinic contacted customer relations who said they are not planning to discontinue the Potato Puree! Stand Down!

I saw the thread for making packet clones as well. Every time my clinic was out of something they said it was probably being "reformulated". I finally decided to just switch to alternatives. But I have never been able to find an alt for the potato puree. I am anxious to make the potato puree clone packet so I can finally try some of the great recipes I keep hearing about. |
Thanks everyone for you help! Another related question to this is what happens if my clinic won't carry it? Do I just call around the state and hope that another clinic will just let me order the food? Is there a website I can order it from and have it delivered to my house?
I called the clinic in Bismarck today and 'ordered' 3 boxes of the potatoe and banana pudding and plain oatmeal (for biscuits!!) that they never seem to carry... fingers crossed they bring some up on my next weighin.. |

yah my clinic person said the same thing. i wonder why IP d/c products anyhow...you'd think they would just always want to be expanding on their product lines!? :D |

Anyway, I'm glad the potato puree supply seems to be safe. By the way, I did try my packet copy (18g microfilteted whey protein isolate + 10g mashed potato flakes + a tiny pinch of salt) with the English muffin recipe and it was AWESOME. I did use the 1/2 tsp of baking powder and I let the batter sit in a covered bowl for about 30 minutes (to give the protein powder a little extra time to dissolve and the baking powder time to work it's magic. My grandmother always said that "resting" a baking powder batter gave a batter bread more lift). I used my smallest skillet and just made it like I would a pancake. Instead of splitting it, I cut it across the radius and used the two half-circles to make a tuna sandwich with the untoasted, unsplit halves. I used almond milk (about 3 calories per tablespoon) in place of the milk. I'm going to also try thinning the batter with more almond milk or water, maybe eliminating or reducing the baking powder to make a pita or tortilla, so that the bread would fold without breaking. I also wonder if I could make thin crackers by making small, thin crepes and then baking them in the oven on low heat or drying them in my dehydrator until crispy. I've never tasted a "real" IP packet, so I don't know the flavor and texture compare, but I was very pleased. I'm mildly allergic to wheat, and gluten-free breads are horribly expensive (and just plain horrible), so I've been missing bread long before I even started my not-quite IP meal-replacing, protein-focused diet (The Simple Diet). I'm anxious to see if I can use it to make a thin, crisp pizza crust. I don't mind cheeseless pizza, but I really, really, really miss thin, crispy crusts. |
