Soy Sauce?
Hi All,
I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I am new here and new to the diet. I'm on my 7th day on Alternative products. I have read practically every thread here multiple times and all the stickies, ect. I don't think I have found the answer to my question.
Soy sauce? Since it is listed as an acceptable seasoning, do we need to find one with 0 carbs? I have looked at just about every soy sauce and all of them have had at least 1 Carb per serving. I prefer low sodium Kikkoman because my roommate can't have iodized salt and I know that they do not use iodized salt. Also, Do you try to select one without wheat added?
Thanks!
Scarlett

Hi, Scarlett -
I'm new here, too, and won't actually be starting IP until tomorrow, so hopefully someone more experienced will also weigh in on this. But I believe tamari sauce is a wheat-free soy sauce alternative that is approved for Phase I on IP. My boyfriend is gluten intolerant, and it's what he asks for when we go out for sushi, since all American soy sauce contains wheat (and makes him really sick).

Hi Scarlettx - I've found a zero carb soy sauce made by Golden Dragon at my grocery store. It's their "Chinese Style Soy Sauce" variety.

The low sodium Kikkman doesn't qualify for P1 but their Kikkoman's regular soy sauce does. I prefer the low sodium and have to use the regular... WHEN I do have their soy I just decrease my salt intake for the day...

What IS Bragg's Amino Acids? When people have talked about Bragg's in this forum, I have thought they were referring to Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar.

You can purchase it in the health food section of most grocery stores.. I buy mine at Stop and Shop. It tastes similar to soy sauce but I like it better. I put it on my veggies, meats, etc...
