Approximate pounds lost weekly while on IP

  • What would be an acceptable amount of pounds to lose while on IP diet on a week?
I started at the same time with a friend and she has lost 7 pounds more than me, is it possible I am doing something wrong??
  • Everybody's body reacts different to weight loss. There are so many factors that figure in. Starting weight, hormones, water weight, sodium levels, etc. You can't really compare anything after one week. As long as you stick to the sheet weight loss will happen. Some people just seem to lose faster than others.
  • Thank you! Crazynette
  • I'm only on my 3rd week and right now but I'm averaging 6.1lbs/week
  • There's no hard and fast rule to how many pounds you can expect per week. Someone who has 30 lbs to lose will see smaller numbers than someone with 60lbs....who will see smaller numbers than someone with 100lbs. Age, height, body composition, hormones, stress, gender (Men lose much faster than women)....SO many things factor in to how the weight comes off.

The "official" average is 2-3lbs per week. But that is also an AVERAGE - you will have weeks of big losses, and weeks of small losses. Some weeks you may lose weight but no inches, other weeks inches but no weight. The MOST important thing is that the scale/tape measure move in the right direction. Follow the program and the weight WILL come off, don't worry about comparing to anyone else - your body will do its own thing in its own time.
  • I will add that the fastest de-motivator and path to failure (for me) was comparing my weight loss to others. I had to actually stop checking this forum because it seemed like everyone else was losing but me.

It is so true that everyone is different. The program is scientifically designed to work, don't try to adjust/tinker with it (e.g. eat less packets, work out excessively, etc) to try and lose more weight. You just have to follow the program and it WILL work. I actually had a gain in my 2nd week and I was 100% OP. Your body will adjust, and it will lose weight!
  • Bumping because these are good reminders from scorbett1103 and rubygirl05. It is so easy to put all your attention on the scale.

So true!!! That's me exactly. I've thought about staying away from these boards for a while, but haven't done that yet. It can be tough. No matter how valid the facts and despite the averages, no one wants to be on the lower end of the curve.
