A serving is four eggs plus 2 egg whites, as listed on the p2 sheet (this is the same egg serving as p1)

I started p2 on Friday. Eating leftovers for lunches.
I had to increase how much meat I'm buying.

I have been on Phase 2 to almost a week, I also went and bought some nuts ( cashews, soy , almond slices. I put them on my salad as my protein . 3/4 cup. Also dont forget you can have canned tuna , it makes things easier

Just a note: I linked the p2 sheet in my previous post. Nuts wouldn't be included in IP protocol until p4 (or maybe a little in p3 breakfast, but not for lunch/dinner until p4)

What I learned from Atkins 10 years ago is to follow the carb additions and maintenance very carefully so that this will truly be my last diet.

When I hit Phase 2 and 3 (since you do the same thing for lunch and dinner in both phases) I would buy a package of boneless chicken breasts and cook them in the crockpot with water or some chicken broth. They would be in the fridge ready to grab at a moment's notice! Lunches were VERY often shredded chicken over salad or in lettuce wraps. Canned Tuna was also a saving grace for lunch (if I didn't have leftovers), made into tuna patties!

Heritages - you still have to follow ALL of the food restrictions from Phase 1 all the way through to maintenance, the ONLY exception is phase 3 breakfasts. You cannot substitute nuts or cheese for protein, even in maintenance nuts do not really count as a protein but as a fat.

I'm about a week behind you as DW and I start P2 on June 15. We've been splitting our evening protein between dinner and lunch from the start and yesterday commented on how full we were with just 4oz at lunch and wondering how we were going to double it. After 18 weeks of eating very little the idea of eating more seems tough to swallow (pun intended :))

I hadn't been splitting my protein in phase 1, but I found that 8oz of protein for 2 meals was a lot, so I ended up cutting back to about 6oz per meal. That little bit made a big difference!

Definitely cut out the nuts in your Phase 2 lunches. It is not part of the protocol and not even close in comparison to chicken, beef, eggs, etc.

3/4 cup cashews = 480 calories, 39 grams of fat, 24 grams of carbs and only 15 grams of protein.

8 oz chicken = 240 calories, 5 grams of fat, 0 grams of carbs and 45 grams of protein.

Please tell me your coach didn't approve this, otherwise I'd get rid of her immediately.

Im planning to start P2 this Friday. This thread is very helpful. I did not intend to have a P2 day yesterday, but it worked out that my lunch protein (salad at Chipotle) and my dinner protein 1/4 pound burger patty with zucchini and turnip fries exceeded the 8 oz a day that I usually split between lunch and dinner. So, I skipped my 3rd packet. My tummy was very full, even into this morning. P2 seems like it will be an adjustment, but we can definitely do it. I agree that I'm probably only going to be able to do 4-6 oz per meal, which in the long run is probably portion-appropriate for me during maintenance.

Thanks everyone for your help!! Good luck in phase 2 its good to know some of you will be doing it with me.

I'm not there yet... but will be sometime this summer (I will probably adjust my goal weight down so it will take a bit longer tp get to P2 and 3). In P2, could you have a little protein with breakfast (maybe a couple oz homemade turkey suasage) and then 6 oz meat at lunch and dinner?

It wouldn't be an issue, just make the adjustment later in the day. I would very often add egg whites or one whole egg to my omelet packet for breakfast.
