General consensus seems to be that alcohol affects you very differently on ketosis, with lower tolerance and worse hangovers. Fortunately for me, at my first weigh in I'm on track - 5 lbs down, woot!

TOMI that is WONDERFUL news!!! It will help give you the boost you need to resist temptation. I was just out at "happy hour" with a girlfriend. I had a shrimp cocktail (3 ounce toward my dinner protein, NO cocktail sauce) and a Pelligrino (mineral water) with lemon. I had the bartender serve it with a piece of lemon in a wine glass with NO ice. It felt good to have the "experience" of happy hour and know that I am still totally OP. Now next week will be the challenge as I will be away on holiday for 4 days. Lord knows I will be tempted, but hopefully I will have the strength to stay gold :) and will be rewarded with a loss when I get home.

I hope it's ok to link this Harvard Business Review Podcast. It speaks to how/why different people respond to 2 types of motivation...Promotion & Prevention. I found it interesting anyway.

Very interesting! As a manager understanding the why and how to motivate others was always an ongoing challenge and these kinds of studies always made helping staff meet goals easier......however; understanding myself certainly was a big part of the daily puzzle! Well...I'm retired now...but think I'm still looking to win which explains my impatience at times. I think I'll try to rev it down a little. Slow and steady they say??
