Most Filling IP Foods

So I am on Week 1, want to try out some new foods next week.

Wondering what foods are most filling for you all out there, including the 1 restricted food you're allowed. Want to see if I can broaden my menu with better foods.

Thanks!

I like to use the puddings as drinks. Shake them up with more water than the package calls for (maybe ~9 oz, depending on how thick you want), pour into a nice big mug, and heat them up in the microwave. The creamy texture and the heat makes them very satisfying. I usually sprinkle on some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice for a little extra flavor. You could add a WF syrup also. I've done this with the vanilla and butterscotch puddings so far, and really enjoyed both of them.

I have found that none of the restricted a fill me up like the puddings, shakes and soups.

I dice up some turnips, zucchini and cut broccoli into small pieces totally two cups. Steam that in the microwave and then add it to the vegetable chili. Makes for a very chunky and flavorful lunch!

I usually stick to the drinks and caramel nut bar. On occasion I have had the omlette and it is very filling especially if you make a huge one with vegetables. I am more of sweet tooth though so I think that is why I just stick to drinks and salad for lunch. I got the chocolate chip cookies as they are a good size. And I would say they are filling, but are also bland, dry, and could use a few more chocolate chips! They stick to your guts though.

The most filling for me, when I'm super hungry is the Chicken Ala King. I dice up some veggies (spinach, celery, romaine, mushrooms) and boil them in about 1 cup of water. Then I mix the chicken ala king as directed, turn them heat down on the boiled veggies so it's not boiling, and mix it in. Simmer very low (no boiling!) for about 7 min. Makes a nice big bowl of hearty soup.

I also like the plain omelet mix. I add in veggies, garlic pwder and onion and pepper. Usually, I can't eat a whole omelet in one sitting.

For breakfast, I use my choc shake in coffee...I actually spread it out to 3 cups of coffee (I drink tons of water so I don't worry about the caffeine). For lunch I use 2 cups of veggies in my soup. I use different veggies everyday and I like to add hot sauce or "salsa puree" from the recipe thread so it doesn't get boring at all. Then in the afternoon I have a snack, usually one of the restricted ones. I don't generally get hungry until dinner but then I get real food so it works out great!

Good luck in our journey!!! :)

I love the bars but I find they are so small and unfulfilling that I am just wasting those calories and then want something more. I'm hoping to find a better alternative (maybe the chili?) while still satisfying my sweet tooth.

Thanks for the advice :carrot:

Soups . Use extra water, another 2 - 3 oz. Add roasted or steamed veggies, either puree or pieces. Have with a green salad with a couple of cucumber slices and a couple of cherry tomatoes. A lot of people don't seem to like the soups, but I think they're a great starting point. You can add extra herbs & seasonings to boost the flavor. Mix everything up the night before and heat in the micro at work for an easy lunch. Just be careful to not overheat. Start with one minute and then 30 sec increments til it starts to thicken around the edges. Stirring every 30 secs helps it heat evenly.

I split my dinner protein and add 1 - 2 oz of chicken or protein from night before to the soups or on top of the salad.

Wow, what great ideas on this thread. So glad you asked this question. I had given up on the puddings and also the plain omelet and the vegetable chili. Will try these creative ways and keep a lot of variety. My favorite is the creamy chicken soup. Usually I have broccoli with that meal. Great combination and very filling for me.

I haven't had the restricted items, but the broc and cheese soup works for me, as I add more broc.

Just thought I would add I have only had the herb and cheese omlette. Never purchased the plain one. Good luck. I am just starting to experiment with different ways to do packets as well. It's fun, but you also hope you don't mess it up and that it is edible as they are so darn costly.

I think the pancakes made from the crispy cereal packet is quite filling and delicious.

Also, for the bars... I always refrigerate them because I feel like they take longer to eat when cold. :)

I add 1 cup of mashed cauliflower and lots of curry powder to the cream of chicken soup. Very satisfying!

I will add a serving of miracle noodles to my soups, very filling. Be sure to count the extra carbs carefully. The carbs can add up. If you are new to "miracle noodles", please google them, there are at least 2 different kinds. I buy the brand which is called "Miracle Noodles" (from netrition.com)

BTW, I look forward to using those noodles with the new cheese sauce I learned about (and ordered today) from the cheese thread that you'll see on the first page or two. (I use alternatives.) This will be tasty and filling.
