I am restarting IP after a hiatus at the end of July. Today is day 2. I have been browsing the forum this morning and do see some familiar, thinner faces
This time around I would like to do the alternatives and have been reading around and seeing there are bars (which are perfect for travelling) that may be unrestricted. May you share the magic number of carbs that would make a bar unrestricted, I think it is 8 or less but am not sure. I have been traveling a lot with long days for sports events- bars are easier to travel with than drinks & mixes. In IP the bars were always restricted.
Here is what I was thinking on going with and am wondering if there are any restricted items I should be aware of.
In addition I have the Premier Nutrition Chocolate drinks I purchased at Costco. They have 30G protein and 5G carbs
Edited to add: I have been drinking my water in the morning and early afternoon so as to make sure I am close to a restroom during critical times. I read somewhere about drinking half your body weight in oz of water so have been chug chug chugging it down!
I found these that I am going to try out. I like that you can buy individual bags! They are a few grams less protein, but I can just eat an egg white to make up for it easily.
Today is the last day before my 2nd WI. Can hardly wait to see what their scale is going to say compared to mine. This first week OP has been relatively easy with few cravings, minimal hunger , although two nights I did wake up in the middle of the night starving, a couple small, short lived headaches. I do get tired of getting up 3-4 times to pee, tho. I should slow down my water in the evening and pick it up during the day!
Besides eating the required foods, and not eating the No-No foods, I am overcoming the horrible habit of eating while I cook and clean up. Last night was the first time I stuck something in my mouth while cooking. I was so hungry cooking dinner that I hurriedly shoved 2 mouthfuls of -------lettuce in!
Will let you know how the WI goes tomorrow. BTW love this site more everyday, I am so glad I found it.
So I've been sleeping like crap. Any recommendations? I've been 100% OP, eating my snack around 9:00 and going into bed around 10, but falling asleep closer to 1:30 only to wake up every hour tossing and turning. I drink about 110-120 oz of water a day, so while sometimes I wake up to use the restroom, most of the time it's just me tossing and turning. My eyes are so tired and irritated, and I get really pissy in the morning when I have to wake up at 7 for work. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now.
I work 2nd shift and it's hard to settle in before settling down. I use 3mg Melatonin. It just sort of makes you want to go to sleep. I used to have such a hard time getting to sleep and also tossing and turning. Now I sleep really well, with the exception of getting up to pee. It is found in any vitamin aisle in any store. Check with your Dr to make sure it's ok for you.

Keeping myself busy with some busy-work this morning. I hope now I can focus and get some writing done. Dealing with post-migraine-med flakiness.
I ended up eating an extra snack yesterday. Oh, well. I can just focus on today and be better! I tried to make a LizRR inspired spinach chocolate drink, but ended up killing my blender when the spinach wasn't blending and I tried to push it down with a wooden spoon! Ha ha! What a mess!
Auroragirl, hang on in the wind and hang in there while you are feeling so low on energy. It will get better.
Sneuse, hope the nausea passes soon! I felt prettty awful because transitioning to IP kicked off a mild flare-up of fibromyalgia. I started on a Thursday and spent most of the weekend taking it easy on the couch reading 3FC.
WhytoKay, I also went through that difficult time sleeping, but then moved on to getting sleepy early at night and sleeping better than I had been. Hope it improves for you soon!
Suzali, I majorly stall every month at my TOM. Any chance that can be related for you?
Welcome back to all of those rejoining!

Hi Everyone. I'm on day 8 and have been stalled for 3 days at a 4 pound loss. It's is my first time on IP and I have been following the plan. Any thoughts? I'm not to the point of frustration quite yet but need some advice/encouragement. Is this normal? Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Yes, that is normal. If you are going to weigh yourself daily you need to accept the fact that your weight will go up, down or remain the same for a few days. If you can't deal with that, then just weigh once a week.
Make sure you are drinking all your water and getting your oil everyday also. Sometimes people overlook that and then they experience real stalls and slow losses.
I don't know if it's okay for me to post here. I don't pay for a coach but I am following the IP diet. I just ordered from Bariatricfoodsource as they had a great starter package for $49 plus I ordered a 4-week plan from Diet Direct. I have found all the food so far to be quite good.
Today I had a pudding/shake for breakfast (love them all so far). I just had the vegetarian chili with beans for lunch (okay) and have another pudding/shake with me for a snack a little later on. I can hardly wait to try some of the dinner items. I was using up some NS foods and they are nearly gone now and they were obviously too high in carbs for this plan. I had to use the NS foods up as I can't afford to waste them.
This forum is so helpful! I hope it's okay for me to post here...if not, someone please let me know.
Thanks.

Welcome! You can post here. There are plenty of us on alternatives who don't have an IP coach.
Hi All, well I seem to bethe queen of the 2lb loss.....I will take it though and celebrate it as well.
My PT went well today and I think that I may actually be getting better finally.
I also do mostly alternatives. Just placed my second order yesterday.

It took 4-6 weeks on IP for my sleep to calm down. I think it is the body adjusting to ketosis
Thanks for the tips everybody. I take all my pills first thing in the morning as I was forgetting to take them at certain meals. But I do recall having started this habit about 2 weeks ago, when my sleepless nights started.. so maybe not taking the calcium at night is affecting me negatively. I'll ask my coach about the melatonin. I've been on IP for going on 7 weeks now.

I'm glad you mentioned how important the oil is, Ragdoll. My first official weigh-in will be tomorrow, and even though I tell myself I'm not going to weigh every day, I just look down every morning and somehow that scale is under me! Anyway, the point is, I'd lost 4 pounds until Sunday, and that's when I started adding in the sea salt and oil (and Omega 3s), and each day since, I've gained .4 pounds even though I've been spot on with the eating. I was tempted to cut out the additions, but you reinforced that they are important and on plan and I will just continue to take them and give this time. I'm usually a fast loser at the outset of any diet, so this isn't as much as I'd hoped for with IP, but your success stories are amazing, so I'm in for the long haul!

Do not take all the pills together. Your body can only absorb so much calcium at a time. Make sure you only take 2 of the cal-mags at a time and take the pottassium-cal seperately from the cal-mags.
I posted this in the 100% thread but some of you may not look there too. This quote was posted on my company's intranet today and I thought it fitting for our journey:
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On ' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. - Calvin Coolidge
Well...my frustrating week continues as my scale had me up a pound today. I have my WI tomorrow so I'll talk to my coach and see if we can figure out anything I need to adjust. Meanwhile, I had my hubby hide my scale and I'm staying positive. I know this will work for my....I just don't know how long it will take and that's ok! Have a great rest of your day everyone!
Morning all! Today is day two for my second time around - hoping it goes better than yesterday. By dinner time I was starving, but as soon as I started eating (eggs with veggies and meat) I was overcome with nausea. I managed to force myself to eat almost all of my food, but I could barely swallow the last bite without gagging. I spent the next two hours feeling as if I'd had the flu (headache and all) and could barely choke down my snack before bed. Didn't sleep well either.
Has anyone that has done a reboot found it to be significantly more difficult the second time around? I remember struggling the first few days last time, as I was getting into Ketosis, but nothing like yesterday.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day! Good luck to all who WI!
Yes Yes Yes,
This time around I am on day 6 and still feel achy and flu like, also had a terrible headache for 2 days, finally gone.
Survived my 55th Birthday Party last night, didn't even taste the beautiful Chocolate cake my dear friend made. Now it should be clear sailing, as in, not so many temptations and over the hump of the first week. Tomorrow will be official first weigh in. I am a slow loser ( just ask Wuv) but at least I lose on this plan
