  • I want to use them instead of the IP shake.

If so, this is not a good substitute for IP shakes. It is much too high in carbs and much too low protein to compare to IP. There are many other products that ARE equivalent. A few examples are EAS Carb AdvantEDGE, Pure Protein, Syntrax Nectar, and Muscle Milk Light. Here's what you want to look for on the label:

    Around 100 calories per serving
less than 30% total calories from fat
    8g or less carbs
    at least 12-15g protein
  • what is the minimum amount of protein you should have a day?

On IP, you should be somewhere in the 90-110g protein per day. The meal replacement products clock in at around 15-18g each (3 per day), and your dinner protein should be 40-55g protein.
  • The RTD shakes from GNC are okay I think..a little high in calories though..

I think you're right - I remember USMCVET saying he used the ready-to-drink ones and those weren't as high in carbs as the powder.

Bottom line, always check the label and compare the nutritional content!
