Successful Phase 1 day today! Ended up veering a little off my original plan, but a proper day for sure. Didnt get my run in this evening due to family arriving earlier than expected, but squeezing in 6-miles tomorrow @6:30am with my running group. Me & my mom are making tamales tomorrow, havent done this in years and its a tradition i definitely want to pass down, not the healthiest food but thats why we only make them 1x/year and give them all away!

Maezy- hope you are on the mend. Thinking of you!

LizRR - will you go through ketosis again, or just a couple days of P1? I have wondered how that works - if you gain or decide you want to do a few days of P1, do you have to do enough of it to get to ketosis?

In Phase 4 you can do a few Phase 1 days to keep any 'creep' at bay. Unlike P1, frequent home weighing is encouraged - we also get a "fun day" which must be followed by a P1 day. I adopted another maintainers rule of a +/-3 lb safe zone, but have been at the higher end for a few days now and am getting nervous, especially with the holidays starting. Definitely want to stay on the low end! This is why I am doing a few P1 days. As for getting in ketosis, that is for the "Reboot". The occasional P1 day in P4 as my coach explained it to me (and this is 3rd hand from a few months ago), it's low calorie - that is still the key to weight loss, and it keeps insulin production low - which is the hormone responsible for fat storage. It works too, at the beginning in particular you freak out, at least I did, over the scale - and I NEVER was emotional about it in P1. But a P1 day was always there for the fix while you figured out your P4 schedule. I will admit I am "looser" in my P1 days than I was the 1st time around. More liberal in "lighter" veggies like spinach & celery and now add in unsweetened Almond Milk (30 cals/cup, 1g carb/1g protein/2.5g fat). I would not have done that before in P1 "proper". |
Oh, and I was supposed to go running this morning but had to cancel because I am getting sick! No surprise when baby brings something back from preschool, but I was hoping it wouldnt be right before holiday vacation!
Maezy almost forgot...Get Well! And don't let water retention mess with your head, focus on healing. |
Maezy- wishing you a speedy recovery. Stay away from the scale until all the swelling is gone. No need to torture yourself.

Oh, no! I can relate...I work with preschool special needs children, and they spend 80% of the time leaking from somewhere! ;) But I've done this for years now, and I think my immune system must be super strength by now. Feel better soon! |
Liz: Cook yourself up some chicken soup. I had a couple of yucky days but I am well on my way to recovery now. I used celery, bok choy, and leeks to keep it P1 compliant. And I cooked the carcass to make the chicken broth...healthy AND yummy! What a yuck time to be coming down with something...
We're going out with friends tonite. They chose a steakhouse b/c they knew it would be easy for me to eat there...my friends ROCK! I love the support I'm getting there. Dinner with fam tomorrow will be meatballs & pasta. They said they ordered some meatballs without sauce for me. I just found out so I'll call today to thank them and explain the meatballs probably have off-plan fillers so I'll make my own meatballs to bring. I'll also offer a veggie tray b/c there are usually appetizers that won't work for me. The big thing is dessert at the family gathering. I'll freeze some WLS cocomint pudding to bring with me. Then Tuesday our plane leaves at 10:30 am for FL. We'll be in airports most of the day (long ATL layover). I'll pack celery and cukes b/c they'll travel well. I'd prefer RTD but I understand TSA doesn't like them in carry-ons so I'll bring packets and get a salad in ATL. Planning! |
Maezy Get well Soon, hope the pain dies down really quickly!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all IPEEPS. :) |

So far so good staying OP this weekend. Tomorrow the gang will order chinese so I will bring my own food to make life easier.
Question for everyone--the last few weeks I have been feeling very fatigued and weak. Anyone have this while on the diet? I'm about 3.5 months into IP, and have had no deviations (to my knowledge). |
Hello all! I am so glad to have you all to talk to about this program. I was at a holiday party last night and some folks were asking about mthe plan I am following, then proceeding to tell me why it won't work! I gotta learn to keep my mouth shut! LOL
Of course there was a ton of bad food but I did great, especially when I realized that someone had brought venison moo-shu in a crockpot...and he's following a low carb diet! So I ate some of that, a couple of devilled eggs and one venison meatball. I was doing great, only a little bit off plan...unitl someone opened up a bottle of Apple cider Jack Daniels and offered me a taste! I went ahead and had a shot, then realized what I had done!~ I know it wasn't that bad but I can't believe that I just took it without thinking! (It was fantastic BTW...not too strong and I bet it'll be great warmed up...next year for NYEve). Well I'm off to make some puress, thanks to Liz and her wonderful recipes! I took a look at your profile Liz and I can't believe how similar we are! I'm and engineer too! You are such and inspiration to me...plus I love to cook so I love your recipes! Maezy, I hope you feel better soon! Hopefully that water weight will just disappear as quick as it came on! |
