I measured at first but now I "eyeball" it because I know from experience how full the bowl I use is with 2 cups of cauliflower or rutabagus fries.

I think you hit the "nail on the head" as such. IP has us measure because I for one never knew what a serving size looked like and lets just say my eyes were bigger than the serving size. I am adjusting now and can eyeball most things even though I still measure. I have only been on the program 8 weeks though so I think that I am making good progress in portion control size. That is one of the lessons that I think IP is trying to teach us. If it isnt, well I learned it anyway!

On a conventional diet like Weight Watchers that is true. This is NOT a conventional diet. It is a ketogenic diet, as well as a diet that balances the body's pH to the acidic side when we are in the weight loss phase. The protein is high intentionally, as are the measured veggies. Many veggies are acidic in nature (referring to the way they react in the body, not acidic like citrus). Too much acid-creating veggies throw the pH of the diet off. Again, there are 25 years of research behind the chemistry to this diet. Just follow your sheet :)

LE sigh. I thought IP balanced us to an alkaline state?? Gotta go read Tran's book again.

Right - so if we overdo it on the acid-creating veggies, we swing in the other direction :) You got it right :)

Never thought eating too many veggies would be an issue:0

I have never measured my veggies. I think a really extremely important part of this plan is learning portion control. After this diet is over I strongly doubt that any of us will be pulling out a measuring cup for our meals, we need to learn that skill now. I would suggest eyeballing an amount that you believe is 2 cups per meal, then measure to see how accurate you are. Once you have that figured out, time to put the measuring cup away.

And just to back up what everyone else has already said, don't worry about what your rogue coach says, follow the sheet! :D
