Lamb?

I just want to confirm we cannot have lamb - I don't see it on the sheet. When I did a search, it brought up 3 pages of 3+ page threads...I don't have the time to look at each one to determine whether we can have it?

Is it too high in fat/calories?

I've had lamb chops occasionally with no problem, but you are correct - it's not on the sheet. Probably higher in fat than the listed meats. Don't think it will hurt if you have it occasionally.

In fact, I've got lamb chops marinating for dinner now. :)

I have it semi- regularly for my protein. I prefer lamb over beef and try to pick less fatty cuts or do a little extra trimming. For me, it was an experiment to find what proteins worked best. If I only have low fat options like fish or chicken I tend to slow down in my weight loss. When I add in lamb or other fattier options once or twice a week, I tend to have my best losses. My coach was also key to helping me with this so I'm not doing anything that she doesn't concur with.

If you are going to add in something like lamb that is off the sheet, put it in your food journal, talk to your coach and watch your losses in those weeks. If your losses go down instead of up like my experience then you need to decide if it is worth it to you.

About to do lamb tonight! Thanks for the advice.

I didn't even think lamb would be an issue. I love it. I ate a lot of it in Morocco this past September (wasn't on IP yet) and I have random days where I want lamb! Or maybe, I just want to go back to Morocco. Lol.

It tastes like a roast and is heavenly.

I have it a couple of times a week!

Lamb chops tend to be a lean meat especially if you make it yourselves

Love it! My husband and I eat it quite frequently.

Suzanne Sommers cookbook has an excellent Leg of Lamb recipe...have made it for Christmas before. She has a lot of recipes that would work for maintenance.
