Honey Substitute?
 

Hi IPers! I saw a great looking Asian chicken recipe that called for 1c of honey. Any thoughts on what I can use as a substitute...I'm looking to switch things up a bit before I go crazy :dizzy: Thanks in advance!

Walden Farms pancake syrup! It's what I use when I make homemade teriyaki sauce.

There are several brands of honey substitutes and sugar free imitation honeys. Though you have to check the ingredients to make sure of the carb/calorie count and whether they're made with high-sugar ingredients like agave nectar or if they're made with sugar alcohols like xylitol and maltitol (I don't know what IP's stance on sugar alcohols is).

There are also honey-flavored extracts that can be used with artificial sweeteners to get the honey flavor (the flavoring themselves are so strong that they're zero calories, because you use only a drop or two).

Also not only may sugar alcohols not be IP friendly, they also can have laxative effects.

If you google "sugar free imitation honey" you'll find many brands and sellers (the words sugar free should eliminate those with natural sugars, but I'd recommend reading the ingredient labels anyway).
