Milestone Rewards

I need some more ideas for my milestone rewards. For the first 20 lbs, i bought a smart phone, I did private tennis lessons for both 30 & 40 lbs rewards. I am thinking about a new scale (like my coach) for when my BMI goes below 35 (getting closer). I am thinking about a massage for 50 lbs... But what else?

I already do mani/pedis fairly regularly. I don't want food rewards. I got a gym bag as a reward on a diet 2 years ago and a new tennis bag for my birthday (that was going to be my 30 lb reward). I am going to a local charity gala in December, i could consider that for whatever lb i am near at that date?

What does everybody else do?

slow2lose 10-21-2012 07:59 AM

Just because I have a passion for purses - particularly Coach and Michael Kors - I have to throw that out as an option. How about a gorgeous new Fall/Winter designer bag? :-)

New lipsticks!

my favorite - shoes!!!!

Big Ron 43 10-21-2012 10:15 AM

I've bought myself a new leather coat.........the old one was getting a bit baggy, figured it would be a good 30 pound reward ;)

Hgamroth 10-21-2012 10:35 AM

I love the new outfit rewards. That is what I have done along with my new COACH purse when I hit my 50 pound loss. I am 1 pound away from 60 so I bought a new sweater dress, leggings and boots. Outfits can be very fun rewards. Some people do charm bracelets.

Onyxmom 10-21-2012 10:43 AM

Each time I drop a size I get several new outfits. I got a Miche Bag at 25 pounds. When I get below 200 I get a pink ribbon tattoo. (Should be in the next couple of weeks!) When I get to my size goal I'll shop for a motorcycle suit, along with more new clothes.

wuv2bloved 10-21-2012 12:20 PM

I get a new charm for my pandora bracelet for every 20lbs

epifania 10-21-2012 12:52 PM

cute new outfits for me, because they really showcase my weight loss accomplishments and keep me motivated to never, ever go back to that dark place :D

SMB 10-21-2012 01:43 PM

I've never given myself a reward and I'm down 25 pounds! What a great idea! Pandora charm is good, but new clothes? I plan on losing so much more, that I'm hoping they won't fit in a month! Iphone 5....oooo, that's a good one. Maybe when I reach goal weight...now you've got me thinking!!!

austintacious 10-21-2012 01:57 PM

thanks for the new ideas. I am thinking a revised wardrobe will be needed at goal but like the handbag and jewelry ideas until i get there. I also love the idea about the charm bracelet -something to wear when you are at goal to remind you of how far you have come and to never go back.
Keep up the rewards everyone!

greenlillybeth 10-21-2012 03:29 PM

I can't wait to fit into a pair of skinny jeans and those gorgeous flat heeled knee high boots that you see models walking around in. I have always had large calves and am hoping that soon, maybe another twenty pounds, I can fit into a pair of those jeans and boots.... and when I can, the pair I buy will be FABULOUS.. I will treat myself to a beautiful pair of designer all leather boots.. The kind I normally never even look at..... I am on week two and down 18 lbs. Maybe twenty more !?

scorbett1103 10-21-2012 04:33 PM

I get myself an Alex & Ani bracelet for every 10lbs - I can just look at my wrist to see how far I've come! When I hit my goal I'm going for a day at the spa - hair, nails, skin, the works!

Me too, Scorbett AND a massage! If I start saving my pennies now, I might include a shopping spree for new outfits, too. 110 lbs will be WORTH celebrating! I'll have to take a day off for that (wait. I'll probably be on summer break...)

I got a facial for hitting 30. Massage in the works when I get to 45.
Then the half-way point...hmmm...need to decide that when I get closer...that'll be 55. After that, I'll probably celebrate every 10 lbs.

I really love to reward myself with stuff that supports my weight loss journey- things that help me focus on taking care of my body. Massages, pedicures, new appliances like Soda Stream or Ninja Blender, iPod and iTunes for light exercise are things that help me stick with the program. My major reward will be a nice long weekend spa trip with DH!

We LOOOOVE our SodaStream! I got it a few years ago when they were just coming on the US market, and have never looked back. My hubby is diabetic and the SodaStream diet sodas are so much better than the ones at the store.

When I started IP my husband suggested paying me $1 per pound. I laughed. I said how about $50 for every 10 lbs and he agreed because he thought that it was going to be like every diet I had started lasting less than a week. I also decided that I would match his $50. I think he is going to have to pay another fifty this next weight in:D

That is genius! :)

What a great idea!! I love my Alex and Ani bracelets. There are some really great ideas here. I have to start thinking, hoping to hit my first 10 this week.

I like this idea for saving for new clothes when at goal!

libertybelle 12-01-2012 03:26 PM

I got for $ for my birthday to go toward a new wardrobe when I am ready for one. I am delving into that money to be able to do IP in a way that feels manageable to me initially.
My reward: Every 10 pounds, a gift certificate to my favorite clothing store. At "big" milestones: Double the gift certificate. It allows me to at least start IP without worrying about the money too much and still have the wardrobe at the end.

You are my hero! Love Michael Kors!. I have a handbag on my list too!

I also love jewelry and have a couple of rings and bracelets in mind!! Something special to wear to the gala!!

Shedit 12-01-2012 04:47 PM

I love the idea of a series of bracelets to document each 10 pounds lost! When worn together they will represent a significant story in my life. The charm idea is also wonderful! Thanks for these great ideas!

kasamsdad 12-01-2012 06:18 PM

I think I'll get a new tattoo when I hit my goal. 25# down 20# to go.

I like this idea too. I bought two pairs of new smaller size jean last Saturday. Today, exactly 1 week later, they are too big and falling off me. I basically have skipped over a size of jeans! I told that to a friend and she said, oh, right, didn't anyone warn you about buying new clothes on IP? They will be going up on the clothing trade thread now, and I wore each pair exactly 2 times! Thank goodness I got them on Black Friday sale for only $10 each. They are Old Navy size 14 Flirt fit Real Deal jeans if anyone wants them. I'll send them to the first person who replies.

libertybelle 12-01-2012 07:20 PM

Checking out bracelets/charms. Love the idea of that happy reinforcement.

scorbett1103 12-01-2012 08:49 PM

LOL I have to say, when my wrist jingles it makes me happy :) I chose charms that mean something special, the reasons I'm trying to improve myself (my kids' birthstones, a claddaugh for my very Irish husband, a phoenix for me). I already bought my next one and I have one pound to go before I can add it to my arm!

Scorbett - I really love this idea! Have you bought or determined what charm you are going to use when you meet goal???
After hitting goal, maybe you could add a charm on for 1 year of keeping the weight off on maintenance, etc, etc. So cool! Jen

Haven't totally decided yet - they come out with new ones all the time so I'm waiting for inspiration to hit :) I do know that I want to get a particular tattoo once I'm at goal, that's the "big" reward!

I'm thinking about a tattoo also. :) Never had one, but thought about it before. It's a great idea, as it will remind us about how we did a great job on losing the weight, and changing so much. :)

Definitely! It's not my first one, it probably won't be my last either - but it's the biggest piece I want to do and I've wanted it for a long time. I figure what better way to celebrate the "improved" me!

Wonderful! What type of tattoo and where? I'm kind of thinking of getting one on my wrist, of a forget me not flower. To remind me to be who I am deep down. I know being so overweight/depressed/addicted to food, etc. robbed me of that, and I know losing this weight and eating healthy is bringing that back, so I thought it might be a good thing. And also, it would remind me never to forget the child in me either. :)

It's a comic book cover of the Dark Phoenix (Jean Gray) from the X-men. The cover art is gorgeous, and the phoenix is an ongoing symbol in my life - rising from the ashes and all :) I want to have it done on my upper thigh, with some details going up over my hip. The finished piece should be about 10x14.

Great idea. For those of us with more to lose though, loose skin should be given time to tighten up. I have to say my one tatoo is starting to look like a shrinky-dink. It's on my chest, above my boob.

Kat117 12-02-2012 08:11 PM

My 50 pound goal was a Pulicati briefcase!

Oh, I Googled it. Gorgeous! I hope I can find a great tattoo artist here. Share your tattoo when you get it, please. If you feel like it of course. :)

Yep, that's why I'm thinking of putting it on my wrist. Not sure if I'll have lots of loose skin, but I'm getting older, so ..... :)
