First check-in. Loss: around 13lb.
I wonder how much of that is fat, and how much is water, glycogen or simply semi-digested food (which would have been a much larger mass this time last week)? My coach guessed 5lb, so I'll go with that.
She also said that most people lose inches approx 2:1 neck:waist, but I insisted that this is unlikely to apply to me. I have a large/thick neck with very little loose skin and quite a lot of muscle, but quite a lot of belly fat to lose. If I lose 8" off my belly, not only would I be very happy with that, but I'd also lose 4" off my neck... but I am absolutely certain that there's nothing like that much to lose without losing copious amounts of muscle.
I realised on the spot that my strong neck is a major part of my physical self-image. So yep, her assertion made me unhappy. I got her to say that this 2:1 rule maybe didn't apply to me, but I got the impression she didn't really believe that. I do think she's generally a good coach; she can answer most questions reasonably well and clearly practices what she preaches in diet/exercise terms (for which I give her major props).
So... am I gonna end up with the neck of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory if I lose the belly fat? I'm hoping not, but even some vague reassurance (or otherwise, if that's the way it is) from people further along in the process than me would be good to hear...
