Oral Surgery while on IP

Has anyone had any sort of surgery while on IP? I think I'm more worried about going under and having two wisdom teeth removed but I thought I'd ask.

I know for my consultation appointment he asked about meds, but I wasn't on anything because this was before IP. Will being on the IP make a difference at all? Do I need to bring him my meds to show him? I know I can't drink or anything before my appointment (it's first thing in the morning) so I plan on eating/drinking when I get home and feel up to it. Not sure if I will be able to get everything down, but I am going to try. My hubby already said he's going to attempt to make IP pudding and jello popsicles for me. I asked my coach and she didn't think it'd be a big deal. Any advice appreciated. :)

I haven't had oral surgery while on IP but I have had it. When they ask you about meds they are looking for anything that will increase bleeding. The vitamins that IP has you on will not effect this, they only replace the nutrients you would have been getting from food. So no problem there. Are you going to be sedated? I had to be awake for mine (I was pregnant) and I don't remember getting the no eating before instrutions so I think that is just for the sedation. You may not WANT to eat right after. Jello and popsicles will be good. The shakes and soups will be easy going down too. Now that I think about it you're on the perfect diet for oral surgery. :) I would puree your veggies too you don't want to leave those out. Good luck.

Thanks warmheart. I figured that they are just vitamins and not a big deal.

I do believe the not eating and drinking is for the sedation since they will be sedating me.

I'd be careful of the popcicles. My doctor last year told me not to suck on popcicles or straws to avoid dry socket.

Thanks. I will be sure to ask him.
