Ugg, Day 2 and Feeling Ill...

This is my second day on IP and this morning I had such nausea that I had to throw up in the garbage in my office!! Has anyone had this symptom when starting out? My first day I was a bit light headed but not nauseaus.

ragdoll74 10-04-2012 02:03 PM

I had that issue, and barely ate that day. I almost quit IP, but then weighed myself the next morning and I was down 4 lbs. I figured I could deal with it a little longer.

I still can't stand the thought of the IP soups, because that was one of the things that made me sick.

My other symptoms day two were I felt feverish, light headed & crazy tired (kind of like the first trimester of pregnancy tired).

Its your body detoxing, add some salt to your water

I am on Day 2 and I felt really sick this morning as well.

Of course, it is now 2pm and I've only had 4 cups of water and the strawberry banana IP. I also have some meds because of thyroid and hormones and I have to take those at particular times and that is messing me up.

Make sure to take your supplements with food. They kill my stomach otherwise

Second the supplement comment- they make me really woozy without food!

White knuckle it through... you're going to feel great within a few days.

Thank-you all for the great advice. I did take the meds without food which may have been part of the problem-I'll try to stick out the detox! :)

Yep the first 4 days were pretty awful for me and Ohhhh the things I would've done for a Starbucks Mocha! Hang in there because it truly gets better and eventually you will have so much energy and (at least for me) I have days where I have to remind myself to eat. I never, ever would've thought it possible to not only survive on the amount of calories we get but to feel fantastic while doing so! I still panic when I drink a 'sweet' drink because my brain just can't wrap itself around the idea that I'm not going to become cranky, shaky and nauseous from a blood sugar spike. Instead I get something that tastes great (hate the soups still) which has the right amount of protein to make me feel great! You CAN do this, stay strong. :)

I am on day 5 and am having a problem eating everything that i am supposed to. Im not cheating not even once! I thought that I was past the nausea then a student got sick right in front of me and I joined her! hahaha I keep waiting for it to get better and I do feel better today than I did days 2-4

I had nausea (and actually puked once) the first couple of weeks and it was because of the supplements. I couldn't have them right after a packet, but needed to wait 30-45 min...

I found it hard to get in all the food too at first. Be sure to use your sea salt and take vitamins with food. Down 30 in 8 weeks. Keep going!

Hmm maybe I should do the same. I thought about doing an experiment where I was going to skip a day of taking the cal-mag supplements to see if that was the cause of the nausea and vomiting (twice last week). I had blamed the ground beef and chicken but last night I felt nauseous again and it was after I had taken the cal-mag. I know skipping is a bad idea so it's a good thing I saw this post :)

Yup, same as the rest. I'm on day 9. Days 1-5 I had pretty consistent nausea and evening headaches. No more nausea or headaches since day 6 or 7. Feel good now!

Remember how awful you felt! It will come in handy if you have the urge to cheat and throw yourself out of ketosis.

Day 2 right now. It has been pretty awful so far. I am like constantly starving. I just want to eat everything.

And I want a coke, and a slice of pizza or some doritos. I have a horrible headache and I'm exhausted. I just want to go home and sleep through days 3-5. I just hope that I'm doing everything right.

I am pretty sure it is the potassium supplement that makes you so violently ill if not taken on a full stomach. hope it passes quickly for you!

You got this!!! Do not let any physical symptoms deter you. The headache will go away. You will feel better - you aren't sick. You know why you feel the way you do. It's normal. The beginning is rough. BUT, if you allow yourself to go through it and stay the course, the rewards are tremendous. It does get easier, but there will always be excuses to quit. DO NOT give in to the excuses!!!!! Decide to succeed!!

If there was a stronger sign that your body is going through carb/sugar withdrawals, I don't know what it'd be :) Recognize it for what it is, then you can face it full force and beat it into submission! The hunger is normal as your body is getting into ketosis, I was ravenous the first few days and then on day 4 suddenly realized I wasn't wanting to gnaw my arm off every few hours :) Use the tools you have to get through the hunger: LOTS of water (hot drinks help too - try some herbal tea without sweetener), as much lettuce as you can stomach, if you feel weak and other stuff hasn't worked you CAN have a hard boiled egg (in the first week you can have an extra packet also). Remind your body who's boss!
