Latest Phase 1 Worksheet

The one I'm working from was printed 02/07/11 - that's the one I got from my Coach. Is there a newer one? I did a search but couldn't find one.

She is adament that red peppers are not allowed.

maezy1 10-03-2012 12:09 PM

my dietician says red peppers are fine. I have found that it is different depending on whom you speak to

starsandrockets 10-03-2012 12:13 PM

Mine says 03/20/12 and just says bell peppers, doesn't specify that certain colors are not allowed

wuv2bloved 10-03-2012 12:25 PM

I just got in the new sheet dated 5/2/12....it says the same as starsandrockets....bell peppers. I have been on this for 73 weeks and have eaten all of the bell peppers and it hasn't changed anything in my loses. I dont' eat them every week or every day, the yellow, orange and red (I think)have more carbs but I use them as a "treat" for a different taste.

I ate the different colored bell peppers almost every day and never had a problem with my weight loss. I averaged pretty close to 3 pounds a week loss on Phase 1.

And there you have it!!....WE have eaten ALL of the different colors and have had no issues :)

I've been eating the red, yellow and orange bell peppers a couple times a week since the beginning and I don't think there's been any negative affect. I'm averaging over 3lbs/week. I love them in stir fry with chicken, mushrooms, low sodium soy sauce and garlic chili sauce. It eases that Chinese food craving. We grill on Sundays and always have skewers of veggies including those peppers.

slow2lose 10-03-2012 02:24 PM

I had my first weigh in and only lost 1.5 pounds - she is convinced it's the red pepper (I ate one in the seven days) and not enough water. So this week I'm upping the water and taking out the red pepper.

I was having weeks that I hardly lost anything so I gave up the Mio and red, yellow, and orange peppers because of advice of my coach. Know what? Nothing changed. My losses are still as slow as ever (but still a loss) I will be eating my peppers again. I don't need the Mio.

starsandrockets 10-03-2012 02:55 PM

I ate red peppers almost daily in my salads during my first week and still lost 6.8 lbs. I still eat red peppers several times a week in salad or stirfry and will continue to do so because I don't think it's affecting my weightloss at all

megscarles 10-03-2012 03:14 PM

I'm eating red, yellow, and orange peppers daily! I had a 5.8 lb lost my first week, and 3 lbs this week. I may try to lighten up on them, but I won't cut them out completely!

Starshine 10-03-2012 03:16 PM

Might those with the lower losses per week have something to do with that they don't weigh as much and they have less to lose? Not the red pepper?

scorbett1103 10-03-2012 03:49 PM

Here's the scoop:

Green bell pepper (1 cup)
30 cal
7g carb (3g dietary fiber)
1g protein

Red bell pepper (1 cup)
46 cal
9g carb (3g dietary fiber)
1g protein

The extra 16 cal and 2g carbs are NOT going to throw off your weight loss.

I was almost in tears - we did my measurements, body fat - all the same and the scale only went down 1.5. I tried so hard and it really was a tough go for me with the meat and stuff that I'm not used to eating. Glad to hear I'm not the only one though - I felt like a complete failure.

I was expecting that, but I was still hoping to lose maybe 3 my first week (I've even done that on WW) and then have it slow down. I was really hoping to average 2 per week. I'm really hoping it will be better next WI.

Yeah clearly that's the case. I remember at WW there used to be these big arguments over now many baby carrots constituted a serving. The leader reminded us that it wasn't baby carrots that got us to WW, and in the same vane, one red pepper in a week isn't going to be the difference between a pound of weight loss - although my Coach honestly believes it is. I won't eat them this week, but even if I do have a better loss, I can't imagine it being that.

She said they are higher in surgar than the green ones - but we are talking ONE PEPPER here, not a case.

Slow2lose, I don't know what your coach bases her belief on, but I too, like the others, don't think one red bell pepper prevented your weight loss (it does seem silly). However when she said not enough water, I think she is on to something there! :) Also about the fat measurements, I read John say in a different thread that those have 8% variation or something like that. Maybe he can repeat it here - John?

It is more likely because you do not have much to lose and are working out, not the peppers. Is she measuring muscle and fat too or just weight?

I stopped working on when I started IP. I worked out on Day 1 and that was it - I had one session left with my trainer.

She is measuring everything - no change in anything this week.

I got over the initial dissapointment and moved on to a new week. I have really increased my water intake. I dont have a lot of faith in those hand held devices on a weekly basis - maybe over a month.

Yeah she goes on and on about red peppers - I don't know what they ever did to her LOL. I agree with you folks but I won't argue the point with her.

Latest 6/2012 Phase 1 Sheet:
http://www.idealtogo.com/Library/Fase%201%20-%20ITG.pdf

It states "bell peppers", the old sheets distinguished the colors, sounds like she is working off of an older sheet.

I have eaten at least 2 cups of red peppers almost every day and have lost 90 lbs in 32 weeks - I had some slower weeks, but had a loss of some type - I wouldn't have made it without them. :)
