Trying not to be bummed...
I followed exactly perfect all week and only lost 2.8. I know I should be happy, but I know that the first week is always the highest so its hard to not get disappointed or think that maybe this really won't work. My coach said that because I was already fairly low carb and eating healthy that it is probably just that I dont have a lot of water weight to lose...which makes sense but I am still fighting a case of bummed.

Although week 1 is usually lowest you may have a big loss another week. Just be happy to say goodbye to those pounds!

Please don't be bummed!!!! Try not to be..I know how you feel! I lost .6 pounds my first weigh in and I was SO DISAPPOINTED! But, I continued and slowly but surely the weight is coming off...it really will come off, just don't quit! Think of where you will be in 8 weeks from now...or set a goal and see the difference.

You lost almost 3 pounds in a week! That is still something to be proud of!

Don't be bummed!!! A loss is a loss!! Every one is different and we all lose at different rates. Since you have less to lose to begin with, you may not see big numbers. Just follow the plan and know that you are doing something right for yourself. You will be healthier and happier in the long run. This plan works, just give it some time!! Good luck!!!

Don't be bummed. Many of us would LOVE to have that kind of a loss in a week. Think of it this way...no other lifestyle change provides that excellent result and it is a movement in the right direction! Sounds like the bummedness might be a case of hormones getting you...2.8 lbs of fat lost can mean release of a lot of hormones. Stay the course and stay on plan.

Hey, hang in there! It's still a great loss, especially since you probably didn't have a lot of water weight to lose. And if you can lose 1-2 pounds a week, you'll still be at your goal quickly! I've noticed that some people have a better loss in their second week, too... so don't be surprised if that happens.

As your coach said, it's probably because you've already been low carbing. The weight so many of us lose during the first week of going low carb like IP is due to glycogen depletion... as glycogen requires water to be stored we lose considerable water weight during that first week of switching to low carb. There's a good article explaining this at http://www.justinowings.com/understa...d-glycogen-de/
Just follow the protocol and try not to stress. Concentrate on the fact that you've got -2.8 lbs less fat on your body.

You are expecting to much out of yourself. You are changing your lifestyle, this takes time. That NUMBER on the scale does not say how you are feeling better or how your clothes are looser. This week I have had the LOWEST loss I have ever had besides a 0 loss....this week I loss .2 BUT I feel wonderful, my clothes are looser and I couldn't be more happier. The weight in coming off that is all that matters to me. You have or want to lose 20lbs so your weight will not come off in big numbers. Usually when you have less amount to lose it is slower than those that have a lot to lose. There are a lot of factors that need to be taken into considerations. Do not COMPARE yourself to anyone on the program, this is YOUR journey, YOUR body will lose at the rate it wants too, Just sit back, take it all in and enjoy the ride. The program works, stick to it 100% and your results will come....Trust us....WE ARE ALL there with you

I second everyone here. I lost 1.4lbs in my first week, .8 in my 2nd, and .6 in my 3rd! I saw much better losses in my 4th week so keep at it. No matter how miniscule an amount you think you're losing, they all add up in the end.

I know it is disappointing, but everyone else is right. A loss is a loss! You are moving in the right direction

Thanks everyone...funny how it is so easy to be hard on ourselves...this AM all I could think of is Starbucks...but I kept driving and literally kept saying...healthy is better than pumpkin spice. You are right, originally I had not wanted to do IP because I thought it did not do a good job of teaching you how to keep it off. However, this week, I am realizing there is a bigger psychological lesson learned in such a strict diet. You have to learn to just say NO...not.."oh I can have a bite, or I can use my cheat points this one time (and then use them 3x that week lol) you learn to have the will power to focus on your goal (getting the weight off/keeping it off) instead of your temporary desire. This will be what keeps it off in the long-run.
Onward-and hopefully downward!

Please don't be discouraged or "bummed" about a loss. As many have already told you, any loss should be considered as good progress.
Also keep in mind the amount of weight you have to lose, how many lbs you are away from your goal and how heavy you are in the first place.
Think of it this way... at 2.8 lbs lost you nearly lost 2% of your body weight! For me to lose that same 2% I would need to lose over 8lbs! Be proud of those 2.8lbs lost and keep moving forward!

This is very much correct. Fat loss is an equation of energy. While the amount of calories varies with the individual coach and exact food choices of a dieter there seems to be a range of about 700-900 calories per day of food eaten on Phase 1.
If you're a 400 lb man your energy needs might be 4000 calories a day and so you could lose just under lb of fat per day. (Lb of fat has 3500 calories)
If you're a 150 lb woman your energy needs might only be 1500 calories a day and if you're eating 700 calories a day you would have a weekly deficit of 5600 calories (800 daily deficit x 7 days) which means about 1.5 lbs a week on average.
