IP Puddings

Okay, so this is my first week on IP and I am trying new foods. The only things I can't wrap my taste buds around is the puddings. They all have a funny aftertaste. Do Any of you do something else with the pudding mixes to make it taste better or use them in a particular recipe. Also, where can I buy Walden Farms products? I live in RI. Can't even find them in whole foods.

I'm in CT and the only grocery store in my area that carries Walden Farms is Shop Rite. Stop and Shop has a couple dressings in the refrigerated dressing section with the produce. ShopRite has BBQ sauce, syrup (maple and strawberry), and my favorite- the caramel sauce.

I use my pudding packs just as a shake for more flavor options, and because I don't really like the consistency of pudding.

You may have to order online for more WF variety, though.

Pudding waffles! I wasn't crazy about puddings in 'baked goods' recipes like muffins, pancakes, or cakes, had a weird metallic-like taste and rubbery texture to me, but they come out crisp as waffles! You can also make savory waffles with the soup mixes and use as bread.

Whisk 2 egg whites, add 2 oz water (no more), 1/2 tsp baking powder, pudding packet, and pour in an oiled waffle iron.

I don't like them as puddings, but I love them as shakes. I just add the 5oz of water, 8 ice cubes, add some cinnamon and blend it with my magic bullet (I like them thick, almost like a frosty). That's my dessert every night.:D

I add cinnamon to the vanilla pudding - makes it taste like cake batter! yum. I like the idea of pudding waffles - maybe will try one this morning!

I'm in southeastern MA, (not too far from you!) - Stop & Shop and Shaws carry just a FEW WF dressings (near the tofu in the produce section). Market Basket has a slightly bigger selection, but nothing fantastic.

I order my WF stuff through www.netrition.com - they carry EVERYTHING, ship quickly, and it's $5 shipping no matter how much you buy.

And as far as the puddings go - I usually double the water and have them as shakes (or use 5 or 6 oz water, then blend with 4 or 5 ice cubes for a frappe!). I haven't tried the pudding waffles yet since all I have is a big belgian waffle maker, but I've heard good things about them!!!

I actually made the chocolate pudding last night, popped it in the freezer for a few minutes (thickened it up a bit more), then I added a capful of DaVinci hazelnut sugar free syrup. It was good!!

Thank you all for your wonderful ideas. I will try them all. Guess I need to get a little more creative. :)

I totally agree with the cinamon...does give it a better taste.
