Happy, happy Friday! Life in this homeschool house is sooooo busy and our extra activities don't even start until next week. I am afraid this year is going to fly by. I hope we all enjoy it and don't miss the memories.

I haven't had the NSV this time like last year until yesterday. I got rid of all my big clothes when I lost weight, so when my diagnosis came and then surgery I only wore knit dresses. They were the only thing comfortable with the weight gain and all the incisions. I did keep some shorts because the length is good for me. I put them on and they fit great. I can't wait until they are too big again. All my clothes are 8s from last year so I will continue to wear my dresses a few more months.

Wednesday was WI#5 down 5.6lbs and 4-1/4in for a total of 19.2lb and 17in:)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

So last night my husband tells me there is a big chance he won't have a job after september.

I've been laid off since January and raising our 7 month old son. Now this. There is no way I can afford IP anymore, and i'm just getting started.

I'm going to see what my coach says about phasing off, i don't want to gain all i lost back! I don't mind doing paleo or low carb or whatever to keep losing, but I don't want to gain it all.

I am so so so so so sad.

So sorry to hear this, being out of work is horrible. Hang in there and try to remember that something good might be right around the corner.

Wow, I am so sorry. We have been in the job vortex several times. It is overwhelming. I know many folks do really well on alternatives. Hope you can transition to that.

Good morning all! I had a long post typed last night & then it didn't post

I've been crazy busy and 100% OP! I'm in a hotel in Indianapolis and today we drive to MI for a big weekend of fun and reflection.

Today is gameday at my alma mater. I'll be watching a big football game with 75,000 of my closest friends ;) Its a big game. ESPN will be there.

Tomorrow, we disperse my father's ashes. He died 2 years ago and donated his body to the university. They were ready last week. This is the real reason for my trip.

Then we head further north to spend 2 nights at the lake house with family, which will be welcome peace after the Friday/Saturday emotional rollercoaster.

I came prepared. My "buns" and omelets with veggies are pre-made. I have extra IP packets with me. I brought cukes and celery pre-cut. I also have more uncut (and a knife!). I froze water in bottles to keep the cooler cool and also to drink as it melts.

I can do this. I will!

Aw man, that stinks. My husband has been out of work for a little over a year and a half and went back to finish his degree. I know those scraping-by times all too well! Let yourself grieve the changes coming...then just hunker down and figure out what needs to happen re: work/life/finances. Lists help immensely - what needs to be done, what has been accomplished, anything to keep you guys moving in the right direction! And definitely look into alternatives to keep you on the diet - they are 1/3 the cost in most cases, and many folks here have been very successful on them.

Sounds like you've got this!!!! Way to plan ahead, food-wise and even emotionally. Will keep you guys in my prayers as you deal with the losses again.

That's aweful. I hope things work out for you both.

You can try alternatives. I switched to alternatives after my company gave us all pay cuts in the beginning of August. It's about 1/3 of the cost of the IP products.

Aimee,
I am so sorry to hear that your DH may lose his job in September. The alternatives work just as well as IP branded products and I say that having been on pure 100% IP in 2010 and then in 2012, I started IP again (long story in between and not relevant now). In the first 2 months of 100% IP in 2010 versus the first 2 months on alternatives in 2012, I lost exactly the same amount. Re paleo, etc. I would stick to the IP protocol as it rests your pancreas and resets your metabolism; these are real benefits not afforded by other diet programs.

I put together a file of what I felt were interesting and important points on alternatives (from alternatives threads here) that I can send you if you would like. Just send PM with your email address and I'll send it to you right away . In short though, I use www.nashuanutrition.com and buy products from Proti-Diet, Proti-Thin, HealthSmart and WeightLoss Systems. As a matter of fact, Nashua has a labor day sale that provides free shipping for the next few days using promo code LABOR49. I just placed another order yesterday. Average box of 7 packets is $10.50 and one of the advantages is that some IP restricted products are not restricted with alternatives (i.e. Proti-Diet pancake has 90 cal, 1 g fat, 6 carbs). It also seems that the alternative soups mix faster and are smoother than IP. I have a pancake most mornings, use a lot of soups and shakes. The protein powder I buy from GNC tastes better than IP's and has more favorable stats. Average serving costs less than $1.00.

It will be just fine. You plan and breath. I Use the CytoSport powder from costco 50$ for 72 servings. You really only need 2 servings a day. $.69 or so a serving. Use the other alternatives out there. My husband and I are going back to school this fall and we disovered our food bill is actually really a lot less. Stick through it.... it is all worth it in the end.:hug:

Tigerlvr52 08-31-2012 10:09 AM

Woot.... Today is Friday and Tomorrow I will be toes deep in the sand. Got all ready to go and will take photos of how I pack to travel. Hope you all have a great great OP day.

It's not easy to change your lifestyle. But friends it does get easier to do the longer you do it. Much love from the Evergreen State for this holiday weekend. Plan your meals, enjoy the sun, and just get out and move that body!!
