Good morning everybody ! Rise and shine!

I'm late this morning because I slept in...heavenly. The show last night went well and even though there was an ambulance siren wailing a block away (the show was in an outdoor patio of a bar), I kept on playing. Voice was in great shape, although the focus problems continue to plague me and I flub the chords sometimes, but...kept on going anyway.

My little sister had sent me a top and jewelry to wear, but it wasn't my style, so before the show I exchanged them and got a lovely silky top that went with the lace shrug I use to cover up my arms, and bought my first pair of 'skinny' jeans. I usually get the boot cut and was so impressed when I put these on and felt sexy! Not bad for a 59 yr old bagger...

Rissmo, you are so wise and generous. I bet everybody here can relate to your story, including me. For me, food (sometimes) continues to be the response to good or bad stress. We can't stop eating, so we have to deal with it, find other, positive ways of dealing with the stress. We will get there !!!!

Well, everybody have a great day and cook something delicious!

Just checking in to keep in touch and report on today's WI. This is WI #21 for me, and the scale gave me another -1 lbs. I seem to be in a pattern of -1 losses for the time being. Obviously, a higher loss would be nicer, but as long as it's moving in the right direction I'm happy. I actually weighed in at a lower weight on Monday, so maybe I'm retaining water or something today. Also had lean ground beef meatballs with a tomato sauce for dinner last night, and I generally don't show a weight loss on the day after I eat beef. I would have waited on the beef dinner, but I needed to use up the thawed extra lean beef. Anyway - it was delicious.

Everything will be business as usual here today, so I don't predict any surprises.

Hope you all have a great OP day.

I'd go see him again in a heartbeat, even without stopping at Ben & Jerry's for the factory tour! lol ( An added surprise of touring VT!)

Sounds like an awesome trip!

As some of you know, I've had some difficulty deciding on a "goal" weight. (Who hasn't?) and I'm toying with the decision of doing P1 again to see where I can go. It's just a timing thing... with school starting again, but then the 4 day weekend and camping with a group of friends, maybe I should start after Labor Day. I know that it would definitely do my body good to get back into the strict routine of P1 again. I've been slipping with the quantity of veggies with meals lately, and while I have not seen a gain, I don't feel good about it.

Wishing everyone a great OP IP day!!!
I too was thinking the way you're thinking. I went OP while at camp with my daughter next week. Then I was was thinking well...maybe after this weekend because I have to travel for a meeting...or maybe after Labour Day because we're going camping then after that I have 6 weeks before I have to go away again... Here's the thing if I keep waiting until after this and after that, I'll never restart. So I got up Monday morning and got back on the horse, I have a plan for this weekend and then I'll sort out the camping! Get back on the horse, you'll thank yourself for it.

DH and I have both been on IP since Memorial Day (he a bit longer.)

Today - he weighed in at 199.2 (down 68 pounds) and I hit my original goal of 135 (down 32 pounds). This also means we hit a combined weight loss of 100 pounds - and we start planning our dream vacation to Maldives (probably 2 years away, but something to anticipate.)

DH looking to lose another 25-30 pounds. I am thinking 5 more? 10? it's kind of addictive! No lower than 125 -

With luck DH will reach goal by late October, getting him to Phase 4 by the holidays.

thanks for being a place i can show off.
WOW! That is awesome weight loss! I wish I could get my DH to do the program but he just isn't interested. In fact, he told me last night that this diet is a pain in the "butt" (not the word he used ) I am hoping that he'll see the results and think differently in the near future!

What is it about the camping trip that makes you think you can't do IP? A few good ideas:
-- freeze ahead (I had some veggies pureed and frozen-- that was my "ice" for cooler, and then I added to my soup to eat! I also bought frozen spinach in cubes so I could grab a few of those at a time
-- bags of premix salad and veggies so it doesn't matter if ice melts on them, they'll be dry
-- the "green" veggie keep tupperware really do work (got my "As seen on tv" set at Giant Tiger) I presliced celery to fit, and it kept fruit for my kids like cherries not squished and not slimy. The food kept for the whole two weeks without going gross
-- RTD drinks in a pinch, lots of bottles of water, and I confess I had some Coke Zero if I felt like I needed a pop
--Shrimp kebabs, Chicken burgers, salads... all camping friendly (just no bun)
-- when everyone else cracks the chips and s'mores, I cracked my BBQ Ridges and begrudgingly shared "just one" to all the people who wanted to try them.
-- You don't need electricity to use your shaker, but if you need your magic bullet to make shakes, and are not at a site that has electricity, buy a car adaptor so you can have a "plug" option. We had no car, so my hubby brought in a charged battery thing that I could plug my magic bullet into. Not that is love
-- And finally, I suspect "booze" is the real culprit for a lot of "long weekend getaways". I once had the low carb beer and Skinny girl wine one weekend so I felt like I was doing low carb drinking, but now I know that even low carb beer has 67g of carbs and that's too high so I say the booze isn't worth it.
This post was just what I needed! We are going camping Labour Day weekend and I was looking for ways to stay OP. I am not a drinker so that isn't a worry but these are some great tips! Thanks!

Quick Posting this morning..... lots to do at work. I did some reading while drinking my morning green goo. Today is a new day and I am worth the effort. That is the hardest pill to swallow for me, harder than the food issues.... harder than the program.

Here's today's installment of

Brandy's Feel good Quote of the Day:

Good morning all- WI day for me, the scale is moving but I would like for it to move a little faster. The scale did not move for my husband, and he is very frustrated- as a "big guy" he expects to see good numbers on the scale.

I know that there are a few things I need to be more strict about- we have not cheated, but we are probably lacking a bit in the veg and water dept. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for tweaks we can do to help things move a little faster. I have no desire to give up on this plan, I feel better than I have in years and I know that I am training my body to live in a healthy way- but I want to lose as much weight as possible!

Today when my Nashua order arrives I am going to cut out all restricteds, which is what I did the first week when I had my best loss. Other ideas I have had:
1- Cut down on peppers- I eat tons of green peppers, cooked and raw
2- Time my meals better- I have a tendancy to eat breakfast in the car on the way to work, which is two hours after I get up. I am also not the best about remembering to have my snack at night.
3- Eat more lettuce- I have been eating sliced cuke and radish for lunch as a finger food, not in salad, maybe more lettuce would help
4- Add some gentle exercise- walking, easy yoga

Any ideas or input are welcome! Hope everyone is having a great OP day and good luck to all of my other "Wednesday Weighers"!

I've completed my first week doing alternatives, and my scale is saying I'm 8 lbs less than last week!!! It feels great to see such fantastic results. I have weigh-ins scheduled every Thursday morning, but couldn't hold back the exciting news for this week.

I may have scored a great deal on craigslist: $25 for a new Nesco dehydrator. We shall see once the transaction is complete later today. Hope it works out and no one snags it before I can get there.

I made it thru day one, again, with no problem. I just got finished reading thru yesterday' posts. For those of you who know me, you know that I have been trying ot lose weight for the past 19 years. In 2000 I found out that I had cervical cancer and at this time I was traveling with DH and everytime we stopped for gas, I would buy enogh junk food to eat to make it until the next gas stop. This was comforting me. Well, before you know it, 10, 20, 30 pounds just appeared on me. I noticed, but I didn't care, DH told me the he would love me no matter how I looked. Then one day I got on the scale and to my amazement more had attached itself to me, so now I was 90 pounds overweight. I was always too tired to exercise, so I just stayed on the couch. On Sept 8 2002, I joined LA and had wonderful success, I had lost 50 pounds by the end of Janurary. Then I began to have problems as work and where did I trun? Right back to my comfort.....FOOD. Gained all the weight back and then some. I tried Phen Phen, I tired the cabbage soup diet, the hot dog diet, the heart diet, I joined weight watchers, even tried over the counter diet pills. Nothing worked. I loved food way to much to stay OP on anything. Then last year I was out shopping for clothes, I went to the dressing room to try on what I thought was my size and it didn't fit, I went and got another and and another and the same thing. Finally on the fourth try I had found the one that fit and it was 4 sizes bigger than I thought I was. I just broke down and cried.......I had finally had enough. I didn't know what to do, because I had tried everything and nothing worked. I stumbled across this site and I lurked for awhile, I watched Wuv's posts and watched her lose. I researched this plan until I was going crossed eyed, and I decided that I would give it a try. But I could not afford the cost of the plan and Dh woudl not be too happy to fork out the money again and then me fail AGAIN. So I decided to try doing it with Alternatives. I began to lose and I was feeling to much better. I have done wonderfully so far on the plan and I am amazed that I have stuck with it.

DH asked me a couple of weeks ago if there was someone else, and I told him no and asked him why. He said because I am losing weight and changing the way I look. He said that he has been begging me for years to lose weight and I haven't done it and all of a sudden I am doing it so there must be someone else. I told him no, that I had finally had enough. He said that I have said that before, I told him that this time I had, that even tho I tried to lose weight before my mind was not in the right mindset. That I had to have the right mindset and this time I have it. And I am determined to lose this weight and keep it off. I have finally come to realize that I am not giving up certain foods forever, they are going to be there when I am finished. I am giving up the foods for now to better myself and cleanse myself from all the damage that I have done to my body. I am learning how to eat, how to have self control. I have learned that I AM CONTROLING THE FOOD, THE FOOD DOES NOT CONTROL ME!!!! Do I want to sneak a taste of something? Sure. But I don't because I love myself too much to ruin what I have been working so hard for. So trust me when I say that I totally understand where some of you come from when you say that you want to have extra bars, or just a little taste of something, what can it hurt? Maybe nothing, but yourself. Yes, this is a strict plan, but you are worth it. Go get a pen/pencil and some paper and sit down and write a letter to yourself as to why you want this this. Be honset and don't hold anything back. I know that I had posted somewhere on here my letter. Keep the letter with you, any time that you want to cheat, taste, have extras etc.....pull that letter out and read it.

We are all here to support one another and always will be. That it the good thing about this site, we all know what each other is going thru in one way or another. We understand slip ups, they are going to happen, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get right back on the horse, but intentional slip ups are not understandable. If you purposly do it, then you need to step back and rethink this, try and figure out why you are doing it and if you are really in the right mindset to continue on this plan, you are only hurting yourself by doing it. Don't you thing that you are worth it? Do you not think that you deserve it? You know what?? I do, I think every single one of us is woth it and we deserve it!!! We deserve to look good, feel good, be HAPPY with ourselves and with life.

So..........remember everone, any loss is a good loss not matter how small. It is just that much less you are carrying around on your body this week than you were last. And if there is a gain, it is no big deal, because we are not eating enough for it to be "fat". Just hang in there, this plan does work.

Hugs and Kisses all!!!
Rissimo - thanks for a wonderful post! This really hits home with where I've been and where I want to go.

You've lost 19 lbs in 21 days and that isn't quick enough? My only advice is make sure you weigh and measure everything and eat all your food for the day.

Also give yourself a big pat on your back for the great weight loss!

I lost 3.4 pounds while on vacation!!!! I was so relieved! I am down 48 pounds, so close to 50! This program is amazing and I have to say a big thank you to all of you. I really would not have made it through the hard weeks (especially last week) without reading your words of encouragement. This site rocks and so does IP! I took my mom with me who is restarting after having a hip replacement and she did not gain anything during the 4 weeks she was off the program. She lost 3! She was very careful about what she ate during her phase off and in the weeks of recovery. I am so proud of her. She has struggled all of her life with her weight and this program is giving her a new life. I have NEVER seen my mom this small.

Good luck to all of the WIs today!

I know it looks that way- but it was 15 lbs the first week and 2 lbs a week after that. I was packed full of water when I started, my ankles were huge and everything on me was bloated. I am really not counting that week, because I don't believe much of it was actual fat. The past two weeks have been 2lb per week, which is good but not great. I just want to make sure I am doing everything I can to be as successful as possible- not complaining!

My TOM came very early during my first month on IP and is currently very late or not coming at all this month. I made sure that I am not pregnant. I am sure it is just my body adjusting.

For those of you who didn't see my post from last night I thought it was worth re-posting again. To give you an update on myself for my WI today...I GAINED 1.2lbs this week....why? who knows....I have been dealing with the SAME 10lbs for 8 weeks now. So its off to a new week for me

Most of you know that I am a LONG timer on IP So I put together a picture of me from starting....at 43 weeks and at 68 weeks....ALL of your hard work PAYS OFF....YOU just have to out your head in it and be determined to get to your goal....its NOT OK to have 3-4 bars a day just because it is IP food....it is NOT OK to skip a meal or veggies....its NOT OK to not drink all of your water. I am telling you it is OK be DONE with the program BUT you have to put your time in....Lord knows I want to be done.....68 weeks is a LONG time and I probably still have another 10-15 weeks to go before I am done. Am I going to just start eating crazy because I want to be done???....H*LL NO....am I going to take sips, licks, nibbles and taste now??...NOT no BUT DOUBLE H*LL NO!!!....Y'all have to use your innter strength for this program, its STRICT.....no if's and's or but's about it....BUT LOOK AT ME.....180lbs lighter over 100+inches smaller....IT CAN BE DONE ...IF.....YOU ARE DETERMINED!!.....I have said it time and time again...IF you are NOT dedicated, committed or ready THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU!....it takes TIME to get it done....it upsets me when I see the things I have been seeing lately....Yes I know this is a support group and this is where to post BUT.....y'all....we are ALL GROWN UPS.....YOU control what goes into YOUR mouth....NO ONE ELSE feeds it to you.....put y'all BIG GIRL PANTIES ON and GET in gear....STOP THE MADNESS.....STOP THE EXCUSES....THERE ARE NO EXCUSES ACCEPTABLE ......NONE.....EITHER YOU DO IT OR YOU DON'T....ITS THAT SIMPLE.....I know I will upset people so I will be away for a while til I am ready to come back......I am off of my soap box now...I am sorry if I offended anyone...much love

Good Morning! I'm on day 5 with my first weigh in scheduled on Friday. Doing pretty good with little actual hunger. However, I'm finding the drinks aren't enough for breakfast. And I don't have time to make the crepe/pancakes/omelets in the morning. Looks like I'll go with the cereal or oatmeal. Any suggestions?

Rissimo -
Thanks for sharing and all the support you provide here.

Everyone -
Good luck today!

Rissimo...I could have written that word for word (minus the cancer).. Love what you said and you are so right! 5 weeks ago, I decided I had enough with the being over weight and losing it for all the wrong reasons. I decided I was doing it for me.. And so far, so good. I really don't care how long it takes either. I just decided....this is it.

Today I woke up, realizing I am 46 and I feel great. No, I haven't lost all the weight yet. But my skin is clearer. I feel so much better. My back fat is disappearing. My clothes are loose. I just feel absolutely great.. I can only imagine (and believe me I try too) what I'll feel like 50#'s from now.

My poem from my grandson this morning:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I'm glad I'm not as old as you!

Gotta love the little ones...

Actually, 2lb per week after SUCH a huge drop is fantastic! Your body has to have time to readjust after that kind of initial weight loss. I dropped 10lbs the first week, then less than 2 the following weeks. This week, my body caught up a little! This diet is not a magic trick, just because you aren't dropping 3-5lbs every week doesn't mean you are doing something wrong. Every body reacts differently and will release weight differently.

Which brings me to WI news!!! So much for feeling like I hadn't lost anything, I'm down 2.8lbs and 3 inches!!!
