Miracle Noodles

Are these ok for Phase 1? Have been seeing them in some posts. Are they restricted? Thanks for any info I am a newbie

wuv2bloved 08-17-2012 06:03 PM

They are allowed on Phase 1, one package makes 2 servings...they are considered "extras" and don't count as anything :) jsut a few more carbs to your day

aliceinseattle 08-17-2012 07:43 PM

They are great! Really fills you up without the frills, if you get what I mean. There's also miracle rice. A must try.

moonbeam21 08-17-2012 09:46 PM

Where do you get miracle noodles?

Chriskii 08-22-2012 03:36 PM

So just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, I can have 1 serving of Miracle noodles say with my 8oz of meat during Phase 1?

iwiggy58 08-22-2012 04:10 PM

Ya...what are they? What do they taste like?

aliceinseattle 08-22-2012 04:13 PM

Yes, Miracle noodles will definitely help fill you up. You can have them for lunch or dinner, or even breakfast if you are used to full breakfasts. You can buy them at asian groceries or online. Here's one link.

I just tried them and they come cooked, in liquid in a bag. You rinse them and then heat them for a minute in boiling water. They are white and almost translucent in spots. They absorb the taste of the sauce you're using. makes a nice change. I bought them for $2.39 a pack plus shipping and tax.. still was cheaper than driving to a store that had them as my little town sure doesn't!

This is the brand I buy in the store here in southern California.

And here is their full tofu noodle product line.

You might find them at your local store too, as "Shiritaki noodles". The Miracle Noodle brand can be upwards of $3 for a 2 serving package here, but my local grocery has 0/0/0 shiritaki noodles for $1.70 a package, just a different brand. They are kept near the tofu.

Ok -- with YOUR cooking expertise, you'll be whipping up all kinds of TREASURES with those babies! If you need to feel "pasta-y" just use Liz' Red Pepper sauce so it will look like the real deal. I think tho' I'm going to go for a yummy stir fry....mmmm

FYI I just found in the spice section Club HOuse spice PARMESAN & HERBS with 0,0,0. Usually spices say 1g carbs per 1/2 tsp. I think this will be a yummy one to use on the zuchinni chips, or any sauce.... mmmmm....

Rainbow, I go one of three directions:
Asian
Italian (love them with grilled veggies and shrimp with fresh basil)
Soup

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

AnnaBoBanna 08-23-2012 09:59 AM

I made a red pepper puree, sauteed some veggies and ate it over the miracle fettucine...yum!

The angel hair is good in a stir fry, I have yet to try the rice!

Ok I must get some of these and try them out. Would Walmart sell these and if so what section?

I have purchased these at Amazon.com and asianfoodgrocer.com, but recently found them located in the produce section where they keep the refrigerated tofu.

These are a great pasta substitute and are very filling. Use them wherever you would use other pasta.

Last week I made a delicious soup based on this recipe with appropriate modifications: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/asian-m...up/detail.aspx

Thank you! I am definitely going to be on the lookout for them.

HI!! Please excuse me as I am extremely green on this. Just started today (Yay!) so I am busy putting together meals to be prepared!

Would these be considered "free" because they are 0/0/0 and you could add them as frequently as you wanted, like lettuce? Or do they count towards something on the program, like a packet or veggies??

Thanks in advance!

They are "free" due to meeting the 0/0/0 rule! Just always be sure to keep your freebies in moderation though, since all of the freebies still have negligible carbs & calories that can add up if not taken into account (example: 1 Splenda packet has ~4 calories from ~0.9g carbs). My coach advised me to limit extras to 6 or less per day.

Welcome to the IP boards!

I think these fall into the category of extras you shouldn't have more than a few times a day because they do add up. These particular noodles add such volume that you might not want to add it more than once a day - save room for all those yummy veggies that are a priority.

KateLyne 08-23-2012 12:06 PM

Thanks @LizRR and @stargirl66!!! I promise I won't hork them all day long...lol! I was curious if it was ok to have occasionally and if I needed to subtract from anything else and you both answered just that!

Thank you!!!!

clh99002 08-23-2012 02:32 PM

I have not tried it yet, but I have seen a recipe on youtube for "Rice pudding" using IP vanilla pudding, miracle rice and nutmeg...

I'm not sure if you have Whole Foods, or Central Market. I've found them in both stores. Central Market has the one's made with Yams and they aren't called "miracle noodles" but they aree 0/0/0 and they look the same (water pack bag, white translucent noodles). I also found them at one of the Albertsons in my area. Good luck!

mightbe 08-24-2012 10:41 AM

Vitamin Cottage carries them.:)
