I have been following the program, but I have been having a hard time staying under 30 carbs! Most of the super low carb veggies are leafy, so I do find myself going back to my favorites of mushrooms, cauliflower, cucumber, etc....
Do you stay under 30 every day and do you find yourself stalled even if you go over some (I've never gone over 37)?
If you're staying OP and following the list of Selected veggies and Restricted veggies, you don't need to count carbs. The program is designed to eliminate all of that math until you get to the later phases and ease off of the IP products.

Ok, that's good to hear. When I went to my first meeting, my coach had me circle a few of the veggies, saying that those are high in carbs and to eat them sparingly - one of which is broccoli, my favorite. So I have been trying to mix it up, but I can only take so many leaves
Like Sobertt says why are you counting carbs? its all figured out for you...jsut follow the sheet
I received a sheet of the approved veggies with all of the carb counts, etc. At the bottom, it says to choose your veggies carefully to stay under 30 carbs. So I have been counting every day...
I can tell you that I have NEVER counted anything and have had success...no time to count anything its all worked out for you

Hmmm...sounds like your coach may have made their own sheet - here's a scan of the "official" IP Phase 1 sheet as of May 2 2012....one easy list of the veggies that you can use for your 4 cups per day, the ones to restrict to just a few times a week, and such. No carb amounts necessary
Thanks, Scorbett! I don't mind writing down what I eat, but looking up the carb count for each thing was certainly a pain. I'm just going to follow this list and not worry about it now.
Hi what has helped me keep my carb intake low is following what's call the paleo diet. It's all about eating only natural, whole foods...no processed foods. A book that may help you get on the right track is The Paleo Solution. It has totally changed the way I relate to food and my life in general.
You don't have to count anything - just follow the program direction and eat as it says.
Cheers!

No problem, Marlenesuer! I appreciate any and all advice. I think it is very strange that my coach would add in a component like that, though. I know she is probably trying to help - she's the sweetest lady ever - but that is a lot of extra work, especially if it isn't needed!
On a side note...WUV have you ever thought about becoming a coach?? I think you'd be great at it!
