I originally started the plan last October, but had to quit due to health issues (not related to IP). I just restarted and am on my 3rd week now. You can have 2 whole eggs as one of your proteins ... AND, newly added since I came back, you can have 2 egg WHITES at no cost.

FYI ... I have been adding the 2 egg whites to the berry yogurt and making really good "pancakes" for breakfast. I feel like I'm getting Food instead of a shake - make sure you only use 2-3 oz of water, 2 egg whites, and 1/8 tsp of baking powder ... just thought I'd share the recipe too :O)

Phase 1, Day 4

Hi all! Phase 1, Day 4 and doing pretty good staying OP, losing a ton of water, can't wait til WI on Friday and really glad to see all the tips, recipes and support on this site that I found by accident searching for info on IP before I started. I have high hopes this will be my last diet plan. What I am confused about is the forums, thread, etc being brand spanking new to this. (and not very computer literate) but I will keep trying to get the hand of it. You are all so supportive and positive that I know you'll all help along.

Thanks! I just finally found a sheet dated 05/02/12..
Dinner: Protein: Poultry: lists: "(skinless) chicken, fowl, quails, turkey, 2 whole eggs and 2 egg whites, wild birds".

So in place of meat for dinner I can substitute 2 whole eggs AND 2 egg whites?

If so, I can see a dinner omelet there!
Anyone?
Thanks kindly!
Jake
PS: Yes, I am sitting here drinking water!

That's right. 2 whole eggs + 2 egg whites. :D Perfect for an omelette.

Since you're using alternative products (like me) - if you enjoy pancakes/waffles - there are low carb/high protein mixes available. I found one that works really well, is very tasty and is definitely IP appropriate. It even qualifies as unrestricted. Maybe google for places to buy low carb food stuffs in your area, and check out what they've got available. (Came back to edit after having now read the entire thread - just to let you know that there are pancake mixes available out there that have no sugar. Mine doesn't.)

Well of COURSE I love pancakes...haha! I will check around and see what I can find...but I really do have it in my head to do the IP plan as listed on their paperwork until I lose 50 pounds...can't wait to see what my loss will be for this first week...will know next Tuesday morning and post it...hoping for 5 pounds!
Cheers!
Jake

Hi Sweetsloan...just checked out the link...I am confused. I checked many products on that page and almost all have sugar listed...4g-7g each on most. The instruction sheet from IP says no sugar allowed. Now I also notice that the Ip bars etc also have sugarm but again they say NO sugar allowed?
The EAS shakes I am using are zero sugar and thats why I chose them, as well as price,....I pay only $4.74 a box of 4 at walmart.
I am not planning on any other foods...no oatmeal, cereal, veggie chili etc...skipping all that and sticking with the program as written on the sheets I have. 3 shakes a day, 4 cups proper veggies, 8oz proper meat, salad, no sugars at all...thats it. Hoping for the best, fastest results....

Hi Jake,
That is NO EXTRA sugar items. If you read the IP food boxes and compare they are the same. I am only ordering the products that are exactly the same as the IP products. Hope that helps.

Just fyi, if you find you want to try out some of the IP packets you can order them through The Protein Shop at shopforprotein.com - they have supplements cheaper than my clinic, $27/box of 7 packets, $4/packets (if you want to sample), free (& fast) shipping in the US. There is also an Alternatives Thread on here if you want to research other options (not as expensive).

It can get pretty boring JUST doing the EAS Carb Control shakes (I've used them in a pinch before, not bad though). So if you find you need some variety - the products are there. If you do this with an open mind and become creative this "diet" really is delicious. There are several Recipe threads and Packet Hacks, it can be overwhelming at first - there is also a daily "What are you eating today" thread you may want to check out to see what other folks have on their menu and get ideas. It's a good way to dip your toes in, there is a LOT of information and support here - several folks are going it solo. Any questions - always post up in the Daily Chat thread as you will get the most eyes on it - and will not only get an answer, but someone else with the same question will learn too!

Thanks for sharing the shopforprotein.com website. I can get a box for 28 and saving one dollar is a savings!!! I've been on maintenance and using alternatives...I'm thinking of splurging on IP again...I really miss the chocolate shake and double chocolate bar!!! YUM!!! :)

eggs

I've found one ideal protein link dated 6/12/12 that it's 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites and another dated in May of '12 that says 2 whole eggs and 2 eggs whites. Any one know which is correct?

The sheet dated 6/12/12 is the most current one. The correct amount of eggs to equal a dinner protein is 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites.

If you look up the nutritional info for eggs, you can see that it takes that many eggs to equal the correct grams of protein for a dinner portion.
