The IP chocolate shake label shows:
Calories: 100
Fat: 4g
Cholesterol: 0g
Sodium: 240mg
Potassium: 350mg
Total Carbs:4
Fiber:3
Sugar:0
Protein:15g
Calcium: 25%
Iron: 6%
no other nutrients on nutrition label I have.

The EAS AdvanEdge Carb Control (Ready to drink) Vanilla shake is: (11oz)
Calories: 100
Fat: 2.5
Cholesterol: 25g
Sodium: 340mg
Potassium: 360mg
Total Carbs:3
Fiber:1
Sugar:0
Protein:17g
AND 25 different vitamins and nutrients listed with average of 20% for each...
COST: $4.74 a 4 pack at Walmart.

I use the EAS ready to drink shakes, kept ice cold in the fridge and think they are very good. The cost is very affordable too which helps a lot...
Cheers
Jake

Are you wanting to do IP on their Alternative Plan? It's generally recommended for those with diabetes. On Phase 1 of IP's regular protocol you aren't allowed the toast at breakfast (no bread or similiar items).... or the berries at lunch (no fruit).... or the dairy at supper (no dairy).

Here's an outline I found re the Alternative Plan, which is discussed at this link:http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...-1-plan-2.html

Alternative Plan - Phase 1 - To Be Followed Until 90% Of Your Wieght Goal Is Achieved
Breakfast
1 IP packet
plus one group choice ( will list groups below)
plus coffee/tea with 1 oz skim milk
sweetener allowed

lunch
1 IP packet
plus 1 group choice
plus
2 cups select veggies and unlimited lettuce

dinner

7 oz fish or 5 oz meat from select choice
plus 1 group choice
plus 2 cups select veggies

snack

1 IP packet

Compulsory

64 oz water

1-2 teaspoon olive or grape seed oil

regular IP supplements

IMPORTANT: only one choice from each GROUP is permitted per day. ALL THREE GROUPS MUST be consumed per day.

GROUP 1

2 slices toast ( whole grain, pumpernickel, rye, multigrain, sourdough, stone ground whole wheat, oat bran, sprouted grain)
150 grams whole wheat pasta
150 grams brown rice ( not instant)
1 sweet potato, or small boiled potato
60 grams oatmeal ( non instant)
150 gram - 200 grams couscous
50 grams unsweetened cereal (bran, oat, whole grain or barley)
150 grams cooked legumes (chick peas, lentils, green peas, kidney beans)
150 gram corn

Group 2

fresh fruit ( example: 1 grapefruit, 1 apple, 2 kiwis, 150 g pineapple, 1 banana,200 g strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or raspberries.
fruit is allowed, but optional, and must not be replaced with another food group.

group 3

1 sugar free yogurt
1 - 60 oz glass milk (2% M.F or less)
30 gram cheese (about 20% M.F)
120 g cottage cheese
60 g feta cheese

Meat, veggie, seasoning choices are the same as regular phase 1.

-------------

If you go to this thread it's discussing the Phases of IP. Scroll down and you'll find a post that gives links to the Phase Protocol sheets, and also another post that gives the same Alternative Protocol details I just copied for you above.

Some of the advice might be correct, but if you really watch your labels, as I have found, many items are an exact match. I have been weeding out the IP products with alternatives and still have lost 3.5lbs or more a week. I actually went to the clinic and asked for the empty product boxes so I could compare the ingredients, then I found this website that sells IP products. Each item has a list of ingredients, so I use this site to compare the alternate ingredients. It is a lot of work, but financially so worth it!! Happy label reading!!!
Hey, I'm new and trying to find some alternatives...what IP items did you specifically find alternatives to? What are the alternatives if you don't mind me asking? I've been trying to do lots of research, but am still unclear what the right choices are. Thanks so much!!!

Hello,

I haven't been for a while on this forum, so I don't remember exactly if it was an open thread about home-made jello or if it was discussed in one of the threads, but I do believe there is an open thread concerning home-made jello.

Anyway, I want to share what worked with me after some trials and errors, I finally got it: I bought the non-flavoured gelatin called Knox (I find it more cost effective to buy the big box than the small one). So, all I do is sprinkle the gelatin powder on 1/4 cup of water, add 1/4 cup of boiling water and dissolve until fully dissolved, let it rest and meanwhile prepare two cups of your protein shake as usually, I found that it works best when I use my Ninja mixer, I assume you can also prepare with a ready-to-drink protein shake, but never tried it myself; add the two cups of your protein shake to the gelatin dissolved and let it cool then to the fridge it goes.

I am enjoying eating my shakes this way much better than drinking them the old-fashioned way since it turns out to be kind of like a pudding. You can get creative and add some flavours such as a little bit of vanilla or other extracts as long as they don't contain sugar or alcohol.

I hope you'll enjoy this!

I'm not sure where my post went, but does anyone have a place that sells an alternative to the apple cinnamon soy puffs?

IF YOU HAVE TRIED and know it works, please respond with the product and your results.

I am hoping this thread won't get too buried in chat. I have tried to read the old alternative thread posts, and even as an experienced forum user, it is a bit overwhelming to read everything trying to pull out the essentials.!

Maybe we can get this to be something a little more reference and user friendly???
Has anyone tried EAS Advantedge Dark Chocolate. Yummy and satisfys my craving for chocolate.

Default Diabeteze Bars

I posted this message on the alternative reviews thread also, but reposted here thinking someone else might know about these bars.

I found Diabeteze bars at Costco and was wondering if anyone uses them as an alternative. They're for diabetics and contain no sugar and fewer carbs than many mainstream bars. They come in chololate mint and chocolate peanut butter flavors. They taste really good, especially the chocolate mint and neither has that protein back flavor.

They seem comperable to IP bars, but I'm unclear on caclulating net carbs.

They are kind of low in protein and high in carbs. Most IP products start at 15g of protein +

Default Alt in Canada

I am in Canada and looking at all the alternatives, I would love some Protithin or some Lindora but I don't think shipping would be worth it. Any Suggestions would be adored!

I bought the Weight Loss Systems 15 g protein Sampler Pack of protein bars from Nashua Nutrition (www.nashuanutrition.com). I am surprised, I really liked each and every 1 of them.
