Has anyone found any unrestricted bars or snacks that they really like? I prefer solid food to liquid food and would love to be able to supplement my choices. Thanks!

The protein is quite a bit higher than most of the IP products, most are right about 18 grams. I would try it though, the rest of the stats look really good.

35g of protein is almost twice what an IP packet has - if you were going to look at that supplement I would use 1/2 serving to count as 1 packet, or count a full serving as 2 packets. I would also limit use to once per day if you use a full serving - you don't want to increase your daily protein intake by too much or it's not good for your liver & kidneys.

I agree. I use some powder that is very similar to that composition but I cut the serving in half. It makes it more comparable by both calorie and protein.

I see that some people use Pure Protein drinks as an alternative -- I looked at them at WalMart and they are 120 cals and 23 g protein. I thought that would be the same as 1 IP packet, even though the protein is higher than IPs.

What do you guys think?

OK- looks like my husband found something online as well that is closer to the IP protein and is less in calories. Bonus is it has different flavors! Thanks for the advice ladies! I am thinking I might give this a try using the alternatives!

Chocolate Chip and Marshmallow pudding cookies
Packet of Chocolate Chip and Marshmallow pudding
1 tsp baking powder
1 pkt splenda (or sweeten to taste - I use 2)
2 tsp EVOO
1 1/2 tbsp egg or whites (I used egg beaters since that's all there is here)
Directions:
Mix together the dry ingredients.
Add EVOO and thoroughly mix into dry ingredients (like cutting shortening into a homemade pie crust recipe)
Add egg and mix thoroughly. Will be slightly dry and a bit crumbly.
Divide into 4ths and place on parchment paper.
Flatten (I use the other half of the parchment paper or it'll stick to your fingers.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
They will still puff up and then deflate some as they cool. They are soft and chewy.

Hope you enjoy.
Molly

I made this today using WLS cocomint cream pudding/shake. Really hits the spot! Thanks, Molly!

Here is the new thread for alternatives. Please post here:
Alternative products that will work with phase 1

It was getting confusing with too many alternative threads.

I'll try to get wuv to close this thread.

Pure protein has roughly the same nutritional content as IP products - the serving size is larger (12oz vs 8oz) which accounts for the higher calories and protein content.

Although the cost is outrageous, since I just started IP, I'm afraid to try anything different. I will forge through and find the means to make this work!
