another successful day in rainbowsmiles IP test kitchen!!! :D

using the IP crepe mix, i made a delicious tostada!!!
the package made two 6 inch tostadas!!!
with just 1 crepe mix!! woot woot!! and OMJOLLYGOODNESS....it was gooood!!!

trust me...that crunchy toasty tostada is under all that
delicious goodness piled on top!!

i started by making the crepe mix...from a recipe i got from here:
THANK YOU JORDANNA!!!!!!!!!

Ideal Protein Pita Wedges/Crackers/Pizza Crust

Ingredients:

1 Package of IP Crepe Mix
4 Tbsp lukewarm water
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
sea salt
1/2 tsp parmesan cheese

Mix crepe mix with water so it is thick add herbs & spices of choosing.

Spread thinly on cookie sheet and sprinkle sea salt over the top

Bake 350 degrees until edges are brown & crispy.

Remove from oven & spray top with pam & sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Put back in oven for a couple minutes until cheese is golden brown.

Cut in to wedges to make pita chips or use as a thin crust pizza.

here are my tostadas!! i made 2 nice round ones!!!

i made them on parchment paper...and then baked them!!
this is how it came out!! all toasty and YES CRUNCHY!!!!!!!!

next i piled it high with turkey taco meat, butter lettuce,
cherry tomatoes, a red onion slice, jalapenos,
mini red bell pepper and since i had not had
my 2 oz of milk for the day, i chose to add
1 TBSP VEGGIE SHREDS....that is NOT IP protocol,
so you can just omit it!! but for me,
i will have it occasionally in the place of my milk.

IT WAS SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now, here is my question....
my 1 IP crepe packet made 2 of the tostadas...
i used one at lunch....
and saved the other one for dinner....is that ok???
or do i have to eat them both at one time???

wuv2bloved 06-23-2012 11:21 PM

you should of eaten both at the same time, it would of counted as your restricted packet for the day

i just call it veggie hummus....its just pureed veggies that have been cooked, drained of the liquid and pureed....any IP veggie or combination of veggies works. it makes it thick.

It looks beautiful! Thank you for sharing your pictures and recipe! I still say that you did fine splitting it up during the day. Our coach says it doesn't matter when you do what is on P1 sheet...just that you do everything that is on the sheet in the same day. She said this after I expressed concerns that a large dinner was not going to work in our lifestyle. With the IP journey being a complete lifestyle change I think you have to pick things that you can stick to and that fit your way of life. Probably more important to just follow a food schedule. :)

yeah....i posted this before we chatted!! i was thinking the same thing...that it might not matter as long as you get it in.

WUV....couldn't i STILL count it as my restricted since i did consume the entire pack?? thanks

Looks great, thanks for posting. You should also put it in the recipe stickies thread so it doesn't get lost. I was just given a couple crepe packets from someone no longer doing IP and didn't know what to do with them because I didn't like them plain so this is a keeper to try.

I'd say you still count it as your restricted since you consumed the entire packet in one day.

And my coach has also told me you don't need to eat things all in one sitting - a packet, your 8 oz of protein, etc. I don't think there is any metabolic reason we have to eat three discrete meals instead of grazing, as long as we stay on what is on the sheet.

(now going to phase 3 and introducing the carb bkfast - yes, there is a specific metabolic reason why all that breakfast needs to be eaten in one sitting! But on phase 1, nope)

Wow- these look yummy! I am going to try this recipe this week. Thank you rainbowsmiles!
My coach counts the crepes as a non restricted. She said they used to be restricted, but are now non restricted (maybe because of the high amount of fiber). Are there any coaches out there that can confirm this?
Just to add in that my coach is really awesome. I am so happy with her, and I trust the information she provides me with.
