Wuv - am so sorry to hear of your job loss. Guess I missed it somewhere along the way. With your personality, it shouldn't take long to find another. (Being without insurance is scary; it's been almost 2 yrs since I've had any.)Keep sending those letters; persistence pays off.

I would love to recommend IP to my family, but I won't. Some of them know I'm doing it, but they are very skeptical. And one said she just doesn't have the self-control it would take.

When people ask me, I tell them going on IP requires sacrifice in a lot of ways, but the results are awesome and fast compared to other programs. But if the goal is to get healthier and feel better, then long-term lifestyle changes are needed anyway.

I too am constantly surprised by how important booze is to so many people! And by how many people cheat while on the program. Guess it takes all kinds...

USMCVet, you're story is very inspiring. You've made such great progress in short amount of time!! It's people like you that give encouragement to everyone else who is trying to stay OP 100%. It's good for me to hear this today.

Patns, also really good insight and information. Some of my friends and family that I talked to early on and tried to encourage to start and do this with me were very reluctant. Now that they see the photos of me (we live in different states) they're beginning to sign-up for IP. One of my local friends is amazed at my results but she told me the other day she's still waiting to see what happens when I come off the program. That is, whether I balloon back up. I told her that's not going to happen any time soon because once I phase off ketosis I'm going to Phase I - Alternate Plan where I'll continue to lose more slowly and be able to exercise. I don't plan to be through with the diet/weight loss for another year. Even then I'll still stay low carb and not add back some of the things I've eliminated from my diet. She had to ponder that one as there was no response.

What I told my cousin is stop thinking and start doing. Each day you can wake up and decide whether you want to do it that day. I somewhat did it that way. I recommitted every morning as though I was just starting that day. But, lately I slacked-off and I need to get more honest with myself and start recommitting each day.

Thank you for the kind words.

I hope everyone is have a great day.

I'm doing an entire study on maintenance on my blog. Check it out.

I would recommend IP to everyone for weight loss, but I think maintenance is a whole different gig.

The guy I am talking too suggested that I write to one of the Talk shows telling them about my success on the diet and what life changing things I will have to go through since I loss my job. I have no insurance anymore so getting my extra skin removed is out of the question for now. I know I have at least 30lbs of extra skin. Maybe if I would write one of them they would take me as a "case" and help me with that. Maybe one day I will write them for now I will continue to lose my weight.

Lisa, what a great story. You certainly are an inspiration for everyone. To lose that much weight in a year is remarkable.

I want to recommend it to anyone, even random strangers on the street! DH is the same now and we actually say IPC (IP Candidate) when we see someone walking by that could use the program.

It may sound callous to make such snap judgments but it just reinforces how people were looking at ME (and still do, to some degree) when I was 70+lbs heavier.

Frankly, I'm not sure I'd "recommend" IP or any other diet to anyone.

I wasn't ready until I was READY and no well-meaning friends or family members with their "helpful" hints or even the offer of $1000 if I lost my excess weight was enough. Until the day I was ready nothing else helped.

Of course I'm only in my second week and no one is likely to notice for another couple of months, but I don't plan on makiing IP a secret, I'll tell anyone about it who asks. I'm just not looking to try to convert anyone.

I have had people ask, and I do recommend IP, but then they ask about the price. That turns them all off.

I also tell them there is a way to do it without buying IP food, the alternative plan, then I tell them to go straight to this blog! I don't think any of them will because it requires time and effort. Maybe when they are ready...
