Weight Loss with or without Exercise
How much have you lost so far?
How many weeks/months or year(s) did it take? Did you exercise anytime during your weight loss phase, yes or no? |
I just incorporated walking into my daily routine, about 1 hour and 20 minutes at least 4 X per week, and I really see the difference in my weigh ins. I am hoping after I lose another 20-30 pounds that I can start running. I work with a lot of people that run in different marathons over the year and I would love to be able to join them in a 5K.
I definately recommend ! |
They say diet is for weight loss, exercise is for fitness. The first time I lost weight I worked out but I didn't incorporate much strength training so I was "skinny fat". To explain what I mean, I'm strength training now and I weigh 153.6. I am capable of wearing the same pants that I wore when I was 130. Huge difference. I have more endurance, I'm slimming up faster because muscle weighs more than fat, I'm faster, stronger, etc..
I try to walk almost every day, at least half an hour a day (usually closer to an hour). I give myself one break day and I try to do weights of some kind every other day. |
Lost 79lbs during phrase one (19 weeks) with no exercise. Continued losing during phrase two and three. Started weight training during three phrase.

141 lbs
52 weeks Not generally....just walked and when I could, looking forward to trying to run soon. :). I was pretty active before and have plans for winter activities this coming winter so I want my cardio up for it. (more likely to do outside winter activities then outside in the summer) |
I've lost 50# in 4 weeks with no exercise, just following IP. I am going to start walking and weight training.
|
I've lost 35lb in 8 weeks.
I have gone for a 2.7 mi walk 4x/week through Phase 1. I consider it "functional" exercise since I am taking my son to the park. We live next to a jogging path and it's easier to just walk there than load up the car and drive across the creek. I may have to change up our routine though since it is getting HOT here in TX. Maybe mall walking/play area for the summer. I take an easy pace pushing the stroller. I just restarted my weightlifting class yesterday (and am SORE this morning after taking it easy!). I have taken it for years, but quit when I started IP and was hesitant to restart. I do want to maintain tone and my coach was encouraging it. I am nervous/anxious/excited to see how my recent changes will affect the scale and body composition. I also added in my 1st restricted and a 4th packet on weight days |
I am almost four weeks into Phase I, and my coach told me not to exercise. She said that my body was adjusting to the lower calorie intake, and that what I was eating was enough to sustain me throughout the day. My job does require me to walk a lot, so I haven't felt guilty about not exercising. I was on a low carb diet a couple of years ago and found that it was better to wait until my body adjusted to the lower carbs. The first few times I played tennis, I found that I had very little energy. It did get better as time passed.

154lbs and 93 inches
51 weeks no exercise |
LizRR - what weight lifting class do you do? Is it body pump? I'm starting back to body pump this week, 2x a week at first and will go from there.
I love working out and the amazing stress relief it is. I havent worked out the whole month I've been on IP so far, but probably at least half and have lost 22 lbs. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back in this week :) |
Well, maybe I will wait it out for another month or closer to my goal. I just feel guilty not doing it. Crazy eh, didn't worry about exercising while I was putting the pounds on, but now since I'm losing weight, i feel like doing it! lol
Wuv, I'm so amazed on your progress! All of you too! |
