Boiled Eggs

are boiled eggs allowed on IP ?

momof2greatcats 04-05-2012 10:49 AM

Yes. My IP sheet says 2 eggs count a protein serving. My coach says that I can actually have three eggs, as she wants me more on the high end of daily protein (8 oz) instead of the low (5 oz) end.

And egg whites are free !! I make a veggie omlet with 2 whole eggs and 2 egg whites for breakfast as a weekend treat.

My DW adds egg whites to her salads to add what she calls substance

My coach says no, but I use them occasionally anyway (since so many others say they are acceptable) and it helps me make it through the rest of the day without cheating...

My coach told me that each egg was worth 2 oz of protein...

I have used 2 large eggs during Phase 1 - makes a nice alternative to meat all the time. It doesn't have near as much protein though. I didn't know about the egg whites being 'free,' but use them now - it's a great way to add more protein with no fat.

If you can get them, Egglands Best has 6 g protein in a large egg, compared to 4 in a regular large egg, and they list 0 carbs, compared to 6 in a regular egg. Both list 4 g fat and 70 calories each.
