Newbie Here and to Ideal Protein Diet
Was skinny my whole life-- then WHAM! Had two pretty serious accidents in 2008 and 2010 which put me "out of the game" physically for awhile. My age 55+ metabolism also threw a wrench in the works and now I've got to lose 18 lb. Everyone at the Ideal Protein Diet orientation looked at me like I was nuts, but I also have moderate to severe arthritis in my thoractic spine, so getting this extra weight off is imperative to my continued mobility!
Yesterday (April 3) was Day One on IP. I woke up every hour or so last night to go to the bathroom (I am waterlogged!) and my stomach was growling! Hoping that this will pass with another day of this minimalized eating. Found this website and am looking for support and recipes. As I said, I have NEVER had to diet before in my life, but this is very important to me! Thanks in advance for your support! |
Welcome! I too grew up skinny and like all of us on IP had my reasons for gaining weight. Being overweight is uncomfortable and unhealthy! You'll find so much information within this forum! :) Stay 100% OP (on plan) and you'll do great! Plus it will be over before you know it!!!

I agree with ~NE~ Stay OP 100%... get through the first week and its a great diet... hang tough... you can do it !!!

Same Boat!
I also never had a "weight problem"..
I quit smoking to get healthier and got quite a few pounds as a result! I'm on Ideal Protein and am also here for support. You don't have a lot of weight to get rid of anyway! It really will go fast! Dont give up! :cheer: |
Welcome and congratulations on your choice! Great group of people here and a healthy, effective program. There are tons of recipes here, including one really good thread entitled something like 'recipes from finland' - from a dieter who is incredibly generous with his time in posting some great ideas.
The IP cookbooks also have some good ideas for flavor combinations. You can get quite creative with the packets, new spices and trying new vegees that you'll keep in your repertoire forever. Good luck! |
Also new to IP and this site
Hi everyone New to IP and on my 2nd day, so far so good! I'm 52, mother to 2 kids ages 21 and 25. I have a question, how much time do you wait between meals to eat the next meal? I aim for 4 hours but sometimes I've been hungry sooner sometimes later. This will probably all calm down in a day or 2.
|
I had a problem with that the first 3 days but after that, I have not really been hungry between meals. I just used one of the protein bars and ate half between lunch & dinner and that seemed to do the trick. Once you get past that point it will get better. I average about 4 hrs between meals.
