Staying strong is difficult, but as the others said. Plan ahead. It helps me every day. What I want to know is how do you gain weight when you are OP? So discouraging.

On a positive note; started weight training this morning. Yeah!

Good morning all! Off to another fun filled day at work. I have my egg and big salad packed for lunch with some bbq curls....yum!

A few weeks ago I came across lean turkey brats that were low in carbs, I think 1 or 2g per serving. I had 1 as my dinner protein a few days during the week and they did not affect my loss. They were super delicious, too! I also had an egg or two though since it wasnt 8 oz by itself. My coach reviewed my log and never said anything so I think they're fine.

I need some prayers. My DH is on his way to court. The could turn very bad. Both of us tend to live in Murphy's world (my boss once said Murphy is camped in our front yard giving training lessons to new Muprhys). Anyway, He accidentally miscalculated twice and of course, he got caught.

He was to go help my best friend in another city fix her exercycle, but first meet she and her grandsons for pizza. He was running late, did not have her number, and instead of calling me to call her, figured he could make up some time out on the open road (first miscalculation) Wrong. He got stopped for speeding. He has not had a ticket in over 20 years, so he was really nervous and shaking. Since he was shaking, plus had just used a breath spray, the officer decided to give him a sobriety test. Personally, I feel he was profiled as he is very skinny, worn face from 30 years of smoking, and has a tattoo on his arm. Being scared (and about as coordinated as I am), he couldn't pass the sobriety test. Here comes the BIG miscalculation he had drank some Vodka the night before (early morning, he was just coming off nights and couldn't sleep). It would be 5 or 6 hours before he was to drive, but what he didn't calculate was it was on an empty stomach and he's small (5'9" 145 lbs soaking wet) and apparently doesn't metabolize alcohol like the books say. So, between the Listerine breath spray and some residual alcohol, the breathalyzer was at the legal limit. The officer took him into town to the hospital for a blood test then he was arrested (that was my first nightmare last summer - couldn't find him for 6 hours).

Now, finally court. Unfortunately, his blood test came back .051. Georgia has this rule that anything over .05 and what the officier deems reckless/unsafe can be considered a DUI. So, does his speeding ticket fall under reckless? It's not at the legal definition of reckless, but not just a few miles over (11).

I ask for prayers, please. I know this is all in the hands of God on how the judge and the officer see the facts on how bad it is. He always tried to do the right things. He's not a drunk and a very good guy. He wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone.

He asked me not to go with him to court, so I'm home going crazy. How I would love to eat all those comfort foods from before, but I will not.

Thanks for all of you on this forum to be there for IP things and for things that are not.
Molly
I hope everything works out ok for you today!

Hi all. Day 5 on IP. Baby was up all night sick, so today I'm exhausted. First time I've been craving off program foods. I think I'm just looking for an energy boost to get me through. Trying hard to focus on work and not on my cravings.

I'm thinking of having a packet now and just my salad and veggies for lunch.

I'm grilling turkey brats/italian sausage - so know I can have that, and will have plenty of cut up veggies I can munch on - but any tips on how to keep myself away from the other "stuff" - my old nemesis foods?
Hi 3sisters. I'm just starting Day 5, so obviously no expert in the IP program. But my 'Phase One Not Permitted Foods' sheet lists sausage/wieners. Hope you are able to get your get-together menu finalized, and everyone has a great time. As far as tips on how to stay away from the other stuff, I can only say that everytime I think about wanting to eat something OP, I remember how expensive each week of IP food is, and how frustrated I'd be with myself if I ate something that threw me out of ketosis. Each 'slip' not only costs significant$ but it takes around 72 hours for your body to get back to ketosis again.

As for my own progress report.... it's only day 5, but I'm relieved to be through the first 4 days of the program as I keep reading that it's often tough. I had several times when I was a little dizzy and had some headaches, but all in all things were pretty good for me. A little sea salt followed up with some water definitely righted things.

One question. How do you know when you're in ketosis? I would expect I should be there today, but I don't feel any different. I've read other posts on this subject and I think I recall somebody saying that I shouldn't be as hungry once I'm in ketosis? Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I wish all of you a happy and healthy 100% OP day.

Thanks, it worked. They turned the two charges into reckless driving and an $800 fine. Not good, but a whole lot better than expected. He was out of court in 5 minutes. He's on his way home (cruise control set on the speed limit - which he always does except that time)

My coach just emailed me a couple days ago with a reply from the district office on how stress affects weight loss negatively. I have an extremely stressful job and now this. I hope I lose this week. I don't feel as though I've lost.

Thanks again, Molly

Anyway, after feeling a rocky start to Phase 4 yesterday, today I am renewed and determined to figure out what works for me. It is an evolving thing, this interaction with food, and requires constant awareness and an adjusting. I want my new life, my new health and I want to enjoy it too!

So, I am going to work on creating a routine, just like I had during Phase 1 and it served me well. With so many more choices available, including bad ones, routine is even more important to me. I've created index cards (after reading somebody else's idea here...) for my favorite breakfast combos, easy to make when I'm half asleep. I will figure out what snacks I can have in the afternoon and plan for them, so when I'm exhausted or stressed, I do not grab what's on the shelf.

That's my goal! Hope you all have a lovely day!
When I had been on the program for about 2 weeks we traveled 8 hours and went to a family reunion. I have to explain a little that when we go back to my hometown it seems like we do nothing but eat and eat so it was hard for me the first few times I went home. But to get through the Family Reunion I kept a few things in mind. 1) I am strong enough to say no to the foods I shouldn't have. 2) I am spending $95.00 a week to get healthy do I want to throw that $95.00 away for the week? Nope! 3) At this time next year (It was in August) I will be at my goal and it will all be worth it.

I also made sure that while we were there once I had ate what I could then I stayed away from the food so that I was not tempted. It was really hard but I made it through and I know you can do it!

I hope these things will help you. Good Luck and enjoy your get together. Don't think about the food think about the friends and family that are there!

legal blood alcohol level in GA is .08. What is the BAC limit in Georgia?

The legal limit of BAC for a driver is .08. This means anyone driving on the roads in Georgia with an alcohol level of .08 or higher can be charged with drunk driving. Drivers under 21 can be charged with a BAC as little as .02 or effectively one drink of alcohol. For commercial drivers, charges can be brought on with a BAC of .04. If a suspect is found to have a BAC of .15 or higher, they may encounter enhanced penalties.

This has made me not get all my meals in Just did not want to eat or get around to fix it. We will see if I have any loss of weight this week

Hope everyone is doing well on their IP plan. I am still so excited about the whole thing! Weight loss has been good, my health improved and I am inspired to learn more about nutrition!
So sorry to hear about your back. I know it's recommended that you get up and move, not lay in bed. Just keep icing your back. Hope it's better soon.

Besides that stuff being bad for you, you will need to drink extra water because of all of that caffeine. No soda either! Just drink lots of water, follow the plan and let ketosis do it's thing. That alone will give you more energy.

Generally the weight gain is just some water retention and temporary unless you cheated and gained real weight.

It took me till the 6th day to know I was in ketosis. I can always tell first thing in the morning. I wake up earlier and I'm not tired in the morning. Before ketosis I was dragging around a good part of the day thanks to all of those carbs (and weight). Ketosis gives me energy. And then of course the horrible breath kicks in and now for sure you know you are in ketosis. Keep the breath mints (sugar free of course) till that eventually passes.

3sisters, this weekend remember the saying "Nothing taste as good as skinny feels". Tell yourself this when you are thinking of cheating.
