These blackberries are delicious. I forgot what the little seeds felt like in my teeth. And the texture of this Chobani yogurt is perfection. Creamy cool goodness Yup, this'll work.

Mmm, gonna have more.

Woo hoo!!! I have 1 week until I start phase 3. I'm still picking up items though so i'm fully prepared. Yay!!

purple sky 04-27-2012 01:43 PM

Yes, be fully prepared. I wasn't like I would have preferred but oh well.

I just kinda started eating and then was like, ooops I forgot the meat and the grain. Then I went back so tomorrow I need to be better about having all the items ready to go because you are supposed to eat them all in one sitting and it was too much for me to eat at once. I might have spread if out over an hour. But, I made sure I had the fruit, yogurt and some cereal together.

Also I picked up a probiotic like Align for just in case. I know me and my sensitive tummy.

The yogurt, fruit and small amt of cereal felt good in my tummy but the turkey bacon and egg less so.

I see the option for nut butters and I might try that for protein because I rarely cook breakfast and often eat eggs at lunch.

Just had my first breakfast. It was delicious and a taste bud explosion but now I'm feeling a bit full and uncomfortable. Clearly my body needs some time to adjust to this.

So on the menu were greek yoghurt, meusli, a combo of strawberries and blueberries and a piece of toast w/almond butter. It all fell within the numbers. Tomorrow will be eggs, toast, blueberries and maybe a latte...I have so so missed lattes. But I've not crunched the numbers for tomorrow so we'll see... I'm so glad I've arrived at Phase 3. I still have more to lose, but it will not be via IP but through a healthy diet and exercise.

CassiR 04-27-2012 02:56 PM

Thank you. I'll be reading and re-reading the information my coach gave me all week. You've done really well and have picked out really good choices which is the hardest part, IMO. I like the idea of yogurt with fruit and granola mixed in, and some sausages or other meat on the side. It feels like it's healthier and quicker. I'm not sure how much egg I'll be using though. :dizzy:

Woo hoo!! You've done great. I hear you on the more to lose. I'd like to lose some flab on my tummy and originally phased out for vacation but deciding i'm done with phase 1 for the time being. I may go back to phase 1 after vacation but just to lose what I gained. I don't get the energy boost that others have gotten and I feel miserable all the time. I'm super cold constantly.. and its very uncomfortable. I am fatigued as well. I've actually had a "planned cheat" and felt BETTER when I was out of ketosis. I got right back on program like I planned but it's hard for me to do my job with constant fatigue. I guess ketosis is not for everyone. I'm in no way knocking the IP program.. I love it, but I don't love ketosis. Anyways, we'll see how it all pans out :)

Everyone handles carbs differently. For some reason we all do well without them but adding them back is tricky. Based on what I have read from other IPers the items that most have trouble with are wheat and sometimes nuts (nut butters)

Also, might not be a bad idea to start this on a Saturday or long weekend if you work in a hectic place. I say this cause all I want to do is nap. It was yummy but boy was I tired. I forgot carbs does this to you. Tells me it is working though. LOL!

I did not do the full amt of cereal as I am most nervous about adding back wheat. And sugar.

Funny that you would say this because 20 mins after I ate my breakfast (my first one in 6 months), I was full, uncomfortable and had a pain in my left shoulder, so I decided to lay down for 10 mins or so.....well, an hour later I woke up and am feeling great, LOL. Lucky for me I'm not working today. Hopefully my stomach will adjust over the next few days.

Sewmam 04-27-2012 07:26 PM

You guys crack me up! I'm glad I'm not the only one who got so excited at eating a real berry....nirvana!!!!

I haven't tried nut butters, but that sounds interesting....next week's shopping list!

I tried really hard to push myself this afternoon to paint my carport and ended up having an afternoon snack of walnuts and string cheese, which would be fine, but I'm sure I had more than allowed. I just needed a boost of sustained energy. If that's what it takes to get this house done, I'm doing it. Maybe I burned off some of it getting up and down the ladder over and over...

I just had my first Phase 3 breakfast!!! I can't wait for today to be over so I can have breakfast again tomorrow.

8 oz non fat Fage Greek Yogurt- 130 cal, 0 fat, 9 carbs, 23 Protein
1/3 cup sliced strawberries- 16 cal, 0 fat, 4 carbs, 0 protein
1/3 cup raspberries- 19 cal, 0 fat, 4 carbs, 0 protein
Thomas' Light Whole Grain English Muffin- 100 cal, 1 fat, 26 carbs, 5 protein
2 tsp Jif Low Sodium All Natural PB- 67 cal, 6 fat, 3 carbs, 2 protein
1 tsp butter- 29 cal, 3 fat, 0 carbs, 0 protein
1/2 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk- 20 cal, 2 fat, 1 carb, 1 protein
Green Mtn Island Coconut Coffee (DELICIOUS)- 2 cal and 0 everything else
1 TBSP 1/2 & 1/2- 20 cal, 1 carb, 1 fat, 0 protein
1 splenda- 0 cal, 1 carb, 0 fat, 0 protein

402 cal, 50 carbs, 15 fat, 32 total protein

Here's my question though~ If we're getting our protein from 0% Greek Yogurt do we count those calories towards Dairy as well or just protein? I think my ratios all look good but if someone thinks it could use tweaking please let me know. This is such a scary phase and I'm super nervous.

Have a great day everyone!!!

purple sky 04-28-2012 01:45 PM

Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy though not all blackberries are created the same. Plus, I don't think I am doing this right. All this math. Not my thing but it was good. The sheet should not list almond milk as dairy since it only has almonds in it. I wish I could treat it as my protein I had my cereal with it after my yogurt. I did not put any in my coffee like I had yesterday. Something tells me I may be going overboard with that. I suspect there is more flexibility with this phase than I think. So, I will have to play around with it. Not everyone can have wheat so the grain part of this may prove challenging. As it stands I do less than a full portion, just in case. I will say this. That Chobani is made of win. Hmmm, that creamy texture. And who needs sugar anymore? I drop my Stevia in everything. Yum o' yum.

Isn't that the case? Because this is a big breakfast I had to wait a bit to eat. But, it was hard for me not to bound out of bed and jump into my berries and yogurt. But, since we have to eat the whole breakfast at once, I waited but I couldn't stop thinking about it yesterday. I will say this, by the end of the day I had to force my evening snack. I just did not want it.

Also my insane cravings from the past week or so just disappeared. Which is odd because it is still TOM. Seriously, no cravings for anything just dreaming and drooling about breakfast the next day.

A couple times last week I had two restricted I was that insanely hungry. That was something I had done only twice on P1. But, I guess when your body is ready to be off this diet, it's ready.

I had a similar experience. There was no way I could face, or force for that matter, an evening meal...ugh. I ended up making some kale chips for dinner and had a packet later on. Seriously, since when do I turn my nose up at food??

Does anyone else feel almost miserable after eating breakfast?

What are you eating? I don't think I ate enough this morning, partially because I was full by the time I finished eating what I ate. But, I noticed yesterday I did fine with my my berries and yogurt and a small amt of cereal. When I realized I had forgotten my protein I had some turkey bacon with egg whites. That did not go well and sort of upset my stomach. I was going to try a boiled egg today but I was too full. There are a lot of things we are not used to anymore on P3. I am unsure why they put so many foods that people are allergic to sensitive to in one place. And why they want you to have them all at one time. We have been eating very, very simply for a long time. Some of these foods are complex.

I basically stayed away from packaged or processed foods because if you have a sensitivity it's harder to know what you are sensitive too. Berries and yogurt are simple and plain. I am also not tired today like I was yesterday. The good thing about P3 is that it allows us to play around to see what we are sensitive too.

Yesterday I had...
5.3 oz greek yoghurt, 1/4c muesli, 1/2 c blueberries and a tad over 1/2 c strawberries and a slice of Ezekiel toast w/a tbsp almond butter

Today I had...
3/4 c old fashion oatmeal, same berry combo as above, an egg w/a slice of soy cheese and 8 oz almond milk

I used the LoseIt app and LiveStrong website to look up my food calcs and I thought I was within the guidelines.

Tomorrow I think I'll go the route of less volume/less bulky foods like toast, blueberries only...maybe turkey bacon for my protein. Something has to give that's for certain.

purple sky 04-28-2012 06:52 PM

Okay, I think it will be better if someone who is experienced chimes in but what you are eating looks good to me.

Generally speaking berries are very low allergy and most can handle them (maybe not strawberries)
I chose not to introduce muesli because it had sweetener in it and different kinds of nuts. So, I don't know if there is an issue there.
If I remember correctly, there is no wheat in Ezekiel so that should also be low allergy.
I think your plan for tomorrow looks good. Maybe start slow and simple until you can figure out what you are sensitive to.

Soy is also a big allergen but if you had no trouble on this diet, then it's not an issue for you.

Did you notice anything after you ate any one particular item? The berries and Greek yogurt seemed easiest on my body.

I do believe you can omit or reduce the cereal and bread portion but you have to increase something else. But, I am not certain on this. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

I am not the best one cause I blew off my protein today. It didn't feel good yesterday and today I felt fine. No probs so I need to find a way to add it back. And increase my grain intake. Was nervous about that one. There is a lot of protein in the yogurt. And blackberries actually, so...that my story.

Sewmam 04-28-2012 07:24 PM

I didn't have any stomach problems with mine, and I had similar stuff to what you guys are having. Greek yogurt with berries, granola or oatmeal or bread, egg w/egg whites, sometimes 2 turkey sausages or Morning Star sausages.

But I also was taking digestive enzymes, which may have helped. Note that if you take them, take them before you eat - it works better than way.

I remember the first breakfast I was so excited I scarfed down very quickly. After that, I tried to slow down and savour every bite...

I put the yogurt under 'protein' because that was my protein source for a given meal. If I had eggs and sausages, they were under 'protein.' That's the only way I could get things to add up right. I put the almond milk under 'dairy' even though it is not a milk product. There's so little fat and carbs in it, that I don't think it matters where you put it.
