Congrats desperatetolosegirl- you are getting so close!
Good luck Jelly- that is super cool that you do roller derby- Ahhh to be that good on skates... Sunnymae & pxlkitty it is good to hear from you both. So comforting to have so many sailing in maintenance- seas might get a little rough sometimes- but we're pretty much all still here!! Pxlkitty - have you stopped Phase 1ing ?? Did you hit the 140's?? Lee- how is your challenge going? Have you done the couch to 5 k? Cajun- How is your running program? Are you getting less sore from it? And being back in Phase 4 must be nice... Maile- are you noticing a difference from your new strength training regime? PaintLady- having read your posts here and in other threads I feel very lucky to be in this group with you. You are very knowledgeable of this program and are so willing to share it with others. I promised myself when I was desperately searching for stories of maintainers when I first began this program that if I got to maintenance I would stick around to be there for those that were in the position I was in. And as we forage our path through maintenance- I am so glad that I am still here, for myself, because it has made this path so much more than it ever would have been doing it alone. Thank you all. And the newbies are very lucky to have you Paint Lady. I, too, have been trying to convert from straight up cardio to incorporating more strength training. It was hard to convince myself to make the switch because I feel like I work so much harder when I do cardio that it must be better for me. But much of what I read contradicts this and makes a strong case for balance between the two so I started a conditioning class on Tues & Thurs. Love it!!! Something about feeling strong makes me feel fit and proud. Cardio always makes me calm & happy. So I can see benefits to both.... |
So my weight loss journey is a crazy mental rollercoaster. I hit my goal of 130 this morning. You would think I'd be thrilled. That's 16 lbs lost since the first of the year...all of my holiday weight and then some. I was happy for about two minutes then realized if I get down to 128.5 lbs, that will be an even 40 lbs lost since I started IP last May. What's another pound and a half? I can do that. So the OCD/fat person in my brain wants to keep going, and the sane person in my brain thinks, what difference does it make that you weigh a round number or you have lost a round number? These numbers are totally arbitrary. So then I ask myself if I'm satisfied with how I look. Umm...not really. I still see the same fat thighs and butt that I had 38.5 lbs ago. I know they must be smaller because I weigh less and am wearing smaller clothes. But I still see fat chick thighs. I am happy to be exercising and enjoying it. Walking/running 3 days a week (Couch-to-5k) and circuit training class 2 days a week. I know I shouldn't keep losing weight (I have to stop sometime!), so I am hopeful that now the pounds are off I can start reshaping my body.

look into adding healthy fresh oils, some raw nuts and avocado in amounts that suit you. Let us know how you're coming along. |
Louisiana Chcik..I lost on Phase 4. You are doing fine! Just decide what you want to be your goal weight!
Cap: I have to make myself do strength training twice a week. I prefer cardio also..I actually do cardio and strength training on the st days. Yes, I have noticed a difference.in increasing my levels..more tone and muscle. Also I started losing weight! I had to eat a restricted IP snack to get my weight up.. Lee. THat is great that you have lost 16 pounds since Jan and have reached your goal weight. Having lost 38 pounds you must look thinner! Yet we all look in the mirror and see body areas we wish were different..no matter how thin we are. Hope your toning goes well. I have kept 128 as a goal..but range a few pounds up or down. PIXL: do you have your computer working? I miss your posts! Jellymae: Let us know about the tryouts. I am sure your body muscles are toned with all of that derby training. I am fixated with the scale also. I figure everyone has to choose their own path of staying healthy. I have thin friends who weigh everyday. I have others who weigh once a week. For me, not weighing led me to avoid focusing on my weight gain..for long periods. OK..I am officially tired of rain and snow..Snow yesterday mixed with rain..Spring can come anytime!!!!!!!!! |
